Pete’s had a rough start but thanks to Chesapeake Cats and Dogs he got to meet his new furever family! Prior to training, Pete was struggling with fear and anxiety which was causing reactivity in and outside of the home as well as destructive behavior. During training we worked heavily on building up his confidence by working through fear triggers versus shying away. We also gave him constructive outlets to turn to to curb those anxiety caused behaviors. Now Pete and his family are able to embark on new adventures and start off their relationship on the right foot. Happy tails and welcome to the Ridgeside family!

Delta and Echo’s owners reached out to us because they were struggling with fear based reactivity and adverse behaviors while in leash. Their reactivity was making it difficult to bring friends and family into their home and impossible to take them out in public. During training we worked heavily on confidence building and exposure to all sorts of new environments and scenarios. Additionally we worked on re-associating the leash, teaching them to work with leash guidance versus fighting against it. Now they are able to have people over without Delta and Echo lunging and barking at their guest. They are also now able to take walks and go on adventures, allowing their whole family to truly enjoy their time together. Welcome to the Ridgeside family!

Bucky and his family use to travel all over the East Coast together but as he got older he developed reactivity to people, dogs, and all sorts of critters that would run by. His reactivity also began to bleed into the household, causing him to bark within the home at anything that passed by. This made it difficult for them to take him out in public. During training we worked heavily on building neutrality and public exposure. Now Bucky and his owners are able to enjoy being out around town. Welcome to the Ridgeside family!

Jameson and Jackson’s owners reached out to us for help after a scary incident in the dog park where one of the boys was attacked by another dog. This incident left them struggling with new reactive behaviors which impacted them both in and outside the home. Jameson and Jackson had become defensive with one another and had no longer been allowed to be out together at the same time out of fear that they would start fighting. During training we worked on healing their relationship as well as overall obedience. Now both of these boys are back to playing together and enjoying their lives with their family for the first time in months. Welcome to the Ridgeside K9 family!

Today Sam got to meet his new furever family! Sam came to us for training through Tara's House Animal Rescue, Inc.. Prior to training Sam struggled with reactivity to new people in home and out in public. During training we focused on all-around obedience, confidence building, and neutrality. Kirby is a young Golden Retriever with young dog energy. With two small human siblings at home, his owners needed help curbing his remaining puppy behaviors. Moose is a year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog who figured out how to use his size to his advantage. His owners reached out because they were struggling with counter surfing, reactivity on leash, and reactivity to people entering their home. During training we worked heavily on neutrality and teaching him how to politely interact with strangers. Cash and Rowan’s reached out because they needed some help with their two boys. Cash needed a bit of a confidence boost to help with his anxiety and decrease reactivity to noises around the home. Rowan began acting out and was acting reactive to other dogs in their pack, especially towards Cash and their Yorkie sister. During training we worked to target their specific concerns for each dog. After training Cash and Rowan are now much closer and know how to work and communicate with eachother. We also taught these dogs how to take a backseat and trust their owners to take charge and handle all situations thrown at them. Welcome to the Ridgeside family!

Bella’s owners reached out because they were struggling with reactivity whenever they would have visitors to their property. This reactivity extended to deliveries and family visiting. During training we focused heavily on confidence building and impulse control. During turnover we taught her owner everything we worked on during training and how to continue on after training had concluded. Bella’s owner asked her son to visit while we were their so we could work this scenario in realtime, and Bella politely greeted her human brother and let him pet and interact with her for the first time.
