It is with sympathy that we hold in our hearts many of Southern Maryland residents. We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic loss of the American Airlines flight and the military helicopter that crashed into the Potomac River near Reagan National Airport.
Many of the people were from Southern Maryland. A group of young men coming home from a hunting trip, as well as a local team of young Ice skaters. Our hearts go out to all those affected, family, friends, loved ones and all those who have responded and worked so hard hoping for a better outcome.

Today, many people are mourning the loss of multiple members of our Southern Maryland community who lost their lives on American Airlines flight 5342 last night, a loss that personally hits home for us as it took the lives of our friends, family, and neighbors. We are completely devastated by this tragedy. Their absence will not go unnoticed and their memory will forever live on, holding a special place in our hearts.

The Jakes produce team would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and community members who are struggling right now.

Please hug your loved ones every chance you get.

Our community is strong and resilient, but today I’ve seen so many of us come together and mourn together.

We will hold on to the memories of each of those lost and we will continue to pray for their friends and family.
