It was a pleasure hosting the Cajun Hunting Retriever Club training day on our farm! Dogs were worked and challenged on all levels. Despite the brutal heat it was a very successful day for dogs and handlers!! Looking forward to the next one!!!

What a ride!!! I have trouble finding the words to express the gratitude I owe this animal. The places I’ve gone, people I’ve met, friends I’ve made, the career I have embraced.. all because he has always wanted more and more! All because his competitive edge matched mine and he excelled through the challenges put in front of him time after time. There are many people that he and I have to thank for helping along our journey and boy, what a ride it has been!! He may now be in the retriever Hall of Fame, but that doesn’t hold a candle to where he ranks in my life. Here’s to you buddy! 🍾

What a weekend!!!! We were in Gueydan, LA this past weekend running the Cajun HRC fall test! I can’t say thank you enough for the support my Cypress Bottom family came out and showed! A lot was on the line for the younger part of our crew, but they rose to the occasion. Overall earning 20/24 passes on the weekend with 5 new Hunting Retriever Champions!!!! Thank you to the Cajun HRC club members and all of their help for putting this event on! A big thank you to the judges that donated their entire weekend to setting up tests and judging our dogs!! It was a perfect weekend for running dogs this past weekend at Amite River HRC. Our crew earned 17/24 passes on the weekend! Congratulations to one of our men behind the scenes, Kristopher Johannes, for passing his first finished test along side his girl Bree! Congrats to the little man “Gus” and his owner Zach Chauvin for earning their started title this weekend!! Shout out to my brother, Kaine Pace, for the incredible hospitality!! Another humbling HRC International Grand in the books! We had a blast in Omaha, GA running dogs and seeing friends from across the country that we only get to see twice a year! Big congratulations to our friend Wayne Labry and his dog Tasso on their 3rd Grand pass!! Wayne comes out and trains with us every single day, helps in the field, and around the kennels when needed. He’s been a great asset to our team!!

It was the young crews time to shine this past weekend at the Lake Charles Retriever Club fall hunt test! We are super excited about this class of dogs for the talent they possess along with the supporting owners they have! The future is bright for them. We have made it back safe and sound from Natchez, MS after running the HRC International Grand! It was a grueling week of testing for our guys and we are blessed to had made it out alive with 2 of our 5!

Tasso was trained and handled by Ollie Dupuis for his first grand pass in Grenada, MS. We felt honored when Ollie and Wayne asked us to prepare and stand beside Tasso in this Grand!! Back in August we were in Bruce, MS running the Southern Flight HRC fall hunt test! As always, it was a great to visit Coolwater Farms and run dogs on some of the best grounds in this country! The Southern Flight club put on a very smooth operation which made for a great weekend!! A special congratulations to Landon Toups and his dog “Fancy” on achieving her seasoned title!! Another huge congrats to Walker Castle and Prent Castle for their girl “Teal” on earning her finished title making her a Hunting Retriever Champion!!! First judging assignment is in the books! It was a great weekend in Moreauville, LA for the Central LA HRC summer test! Big thanks to the club for inviting me to judge their Started tests. We had some great help from Bryan Beatty and his two nephews to help make our test run flawlessly!! I can’t thank my co-judge, Ms. Pamela Field Flotte, enough for her guidance and sharing her knowledge as a judge with me all weekend!! We were able to setup fair and challenging tests, but beat the heat at the same time. Congratulations to all handler and dog teams on their success!!!

We had a successful trip north to Elkhorn, WI in seek of cooler weather and Master Tests. Our crew had a great run with weekend testing as well as some great training during the week with A.G. Shaw!! We can not thank A.G. and his wife Maureen enough for their hospitality. They truly made our trip go round! We would like to thank all of our owners for trusting us to take this trip with their dogs. Thank you to all judges and workers behind the scenes. The clubs and members were great! We made a ton of new friends and are excited to them again down the road!!

After a long and stressful week, we have wrapped up the 2021 Spring Grand!! Everything came together for these two boys! Congratulations to Mike Boutte on Gators first grand pass! He ran solid all week completing all 5 series without any faults! Jacque also earned his first grand pass! The dogs and I have worked hard to get to this point, but there’s no way we could have done it alone. I’d like to thank my CBR crew, Charles Hebert and Slade Lester, for all you guys do in the field and around the kennels to help make these dogs better each day! Also a huge thank you to the grand training group that I am blessed to be a part of (Trent Nugier, Ollie Dupuis, AG Shaw, Marcus Bice, Justin Hergert, Chris Stewart, Josh Cantrell, Tim Tatum) for every ounce of work you guys put into our dogs to help get them all ready for this event!!
