Uma (hot dog vendor) and Willa (hot dog) and their pet parents, Katie and Alex are this year’s Halloween costume contest champions and will receive custom line prints created by our very own vet assistant, Annie .

Sometimes when we're scrolling through patient records, we stumble upon a photo uploaded by the client that makes us pause. Ruby's family added this fabulous shot of her relaxed self lounging by one of the photo op signs in our clinic rooms!

Ruby is a retired breeding dog that was rescued by an active family with 5 children. She's a lucky lady!

June is National Microchipping month! In this series of photos Holly is demonstrating how to scan a microchip on a pet's back. The third photo shows the size of the microchip (little black thing in the keychain) which lays under the skin and the syringe used for insertion.

The that we use at Minnepau also have the ability to tell us the pet's temperature so that we don’t have to take it rectally or in the ear which sometimes pets don’t like.

Microchips help families find lost pets. If someone brings in an unidentified or tagless pet, we (or any other vet clinic) can scan them to find the microchip. With the ID number provided, we can call the manufacturer to get the owner information associated with the number.

One common question is whether microchips have GPS (they don't). The chips can only be 'read’ by a special device that is held within about 6 inches of the animal's back.

Duchess’ grown ups informed us that although she is normally very anxious at the vet she was surprisingly comfortable and relaxed at Minnepau. We work hard to make pets feel at ease and . It makes our day when we hear stories about how our space and our staff help your animals have anxiety free visits!

A dog with locks! Isn’t Oliver magnificent?

There are around 5 or 6 breeds that can handle corded coats. While dog locks take a lot of time and commitment to maintain, the effort sure pays off when they look this stunning.

We preformed oral surgery on a 12 week old pup this week because the lower canine teeth were trapped by the upper canine teeth causing an overbite and not allowing the lower jaw to grow. By removing the baby canines, the lower jaw should now be able to grow and the overbite should be corrected!!! 🦷

The x-rays show before and after photos and the second photo shows a mouth that's ready to heal and grow!

Meet Minnepau's newest veterinary assistant, Serena! She worked with animals in a variety of settings from zoos to dog daycares before joining our team. These are her two cats, Deb and Marty!

Springtime means flea and tick prevention season in the veterinary world so we've had an influx of dogs and puppies in the clinic the past couple months. But this princess, Charlotte, came in this week for a ringworm recheck and we're obsessed!! Her little mane, her big eyes, that ear fluff...!!! Oh my!

The tulips are blooming again outside Minnepau! Although the watershed has prevented some of the tulip bulbs from forming flowers this spring, the colors are still vibrant and beautiful. Come check them out!!!

It was a first for all these pupperoos! Pippin is a new little thing in for their first ever vet visit and the other three were recently adopted! Springtime is a great time to get your pets in for check ups and flea/tick prevention.

A Neighborhood Veterinarian

Dr. Starke Mueller moved to Saint Anthony Park in 2014 a few years after completing his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota. It didn’t take long before he fell in love with the community and invested in a plot of land next to the Hampden Coop with plans to open a veterinary clinic and to help his four-legged neighbors and their caregivers. Minnepau Veterinary Clinic was founded with a dream to help people by caring for and healing their animals in the community where he lives with his wife and 4 children.
