Did you know that Como Park Zoo & Conservatory was one of the first zoos in the United States to hand raise Siberian tigers back in the 1950s? That 75-year legacy continues today with the arrival of Como’s two newest tiger cubs, Maks, and Marisa, born to parents Bernadette and Tsar.

Bringing up babies is part of Como’s mission, and your contributions are critical to providing cutting-edge care to rare breeds like our Amur tigers, our newest nyala calf, and to elder animal ambassadors, like Nan the polar bear. On Give to the Max Day, help support the full-spectrum of veterinary care that puts conservation at the forefront with a gift to Como Friends. https://bit.ly/4eoZOEd

From now through November 21, every contribution you make will be doubled, dollar for dollar, up to $53,000, by a generous matching gift from Como Friends’ Board of Directors and a community supporter. https://bit.ly/GTMDComo

This year, you can help choose the name of Como Zoo’s new baby nyala, born in September. Vote for your favorite name when you make a Give to the Max Day gift to Como Friends! Don’t miss the opportunity—make your donation today!

🧊🥒 Happy (Belated) National Pickle Day! 🥒🧊

Yesterday, our amazing zookeepers celebrated in style by tossing a giant pickle enrichment toy into the polar bear habitat—and Kulu couldn’t wait to make it his new favorite toy! Watch him splash, chase, and tumble around with his pickle pal in the water. Kulu’s playtime reminds us how important enrichment is for all our animal friends, helping them stay active, engaged, and curious. This video is sure to dill-light your day! 💦

While there will not be a Holiday Flower Show in the Sunken Garden this year, stay tuned for more details on our “Winter’s Blooming Wonderland” coming to our Visitor Center “Porch” in December!

🍁 The Fall Flower Show, Part 2, Is Now Open! 🍁

Part two of our Fall Flower Show opens today, and it's inspired by none other than Como lions, Mumford and Maji! With a bold golden color scheme, the Sunken Garden is now decked out in an autumn palette of gold, white, red, and bicolor red/yellow chrysanthemums. You’ll also find accents like leonotis (aka lion’s tail), ornamental peppers, flowing grasses, and colorful Swiss chard!

It’s that time of year! 🍂 Our fabulous flock of flamingos is heading behind the scenes for a cozy winter break! They'll be getting extra TLC and staying warm until spring, when they’ll return in all their pink-feathered glory. 🦩💖 We’re already counting down the days to when they brighten up the Bird Yard again! Until then, let’s give them a big flamingo farewell! 👋🌸
