Feeding is more fun this way. Interaction between you amd your dog. They understand rewards come from you. We just use the bowl as a tool through interaction. Utilizing food to close the gap when things are hard for your dog.

We teach our dogs to go on command and we create daily habits for them so they know what to do every time they go outside.

When you take your dog outside, do they run away from you or do they stay focused on you?
Simple enough- if you teach them that every time you’re going outside you both are going to have some fun, they will stick around & focus on you!

I will show you a video on how we ask them to go potty first before we have fun!

Always start off with your dog on leash first and make sure your dog just loves interacting with you or has good food or toy motivation!

Waiting at the door using rewards. It may take some dogs longer to learn it but if you have a clear headed dog like this raptor, it only takes a few times before they understand it. This is the 3rd attempt only and she already understands that she must sit and wait before she goes out the door. We will do another video by the front door. When we change the location we have to make sure the dog understands he must do the same regardless of the location.

1. the dog offered he behavior without me asking her to sit.
2. I say "Good" to aknowledge she's doing a good job (you can reinforce by feeding some treats while the dog is sitting)
3. Open the door, if the dog stays, I say "okay" to release her and she gets fed some treats. If the dog breaks command when the door opens, we start over.

repeat as needed until the dog anticipates then we can add more duration and distance. 👊

We trained him in obedience when he was a puppy. So good to have him back as an adult and he is doing wonderful. Remembers all of his commands. Dogs are too awesome.

Playing tug with your dogs

Let your dog pull and win the tug for the game to be fun for them. What fun is in the competition game if you win all the time and they always lose?

Teaching a casual walk on leash

Teaching my crazy mal how to walk on leash on a flat buckle next to me using only food, verbal praise. We are utilizing this time to also teach her the meaning of “heel” we are using this word as a casual heel on leash on our right side. The left side we keep it for a formal “fuss” Yes we can teach our dogs to heel nxt to us with just food, it just takes more reps.

Foundation exercise focus heeling IGP style.

During this quarantine it’s been a blessing to us. We get to train & play with our own dogs daily, we get to truly focus on what we need to work more on. In today’s video we revisit - Focus heeling - going back to basics. Luring, removing hand, rewarding different ways & working to open more as a handler and sharing emotions, happiness and fun with Clutch. We went back to basic puppy play & rules of play and now when we are outside, when i ask if shes “ready”, she explodes with energy and we can work without her being distracted by smelling the grass. This is a huge change in how we used to do things.

Crating Dogs

Teaching our dogs to be able to crate on command and be calm inside the crate will make it much comfortable for them if you must board them in an unfamiliar environment. The crate is meant to be a safe place for our dogs when we aren’t home, when we travel in the car or when we leave them in someone else’s care. It is a safety tool and a place of comfort for our dogs.

Teaching your dog the word “yes” & their name!

In this video i show you the very first step in teaching your dog their name and using “yes” as a marker. Words means nothing to our dogs until we put a meaning to them. Here in the first clip i dont do or/say nothing. I wait for the dog to look at me, then I mark with “YES” then release the food (positive reinforcement). I become valuable to my dog just by hand feeding through this exercise. The dog will quickly understand how to get her reward. In the 2nd clip, i add her name to the mix (clutch> she looks at me> i say “yes”> reward with food) This session is short and under 3 minutes , but this is an easy exercise that can be done daily for 3 min or less! Eventually you’ll see your dog drool or get excited when they hear their name because a reward will be expected. (Classical conditioning) 🙂 Any questions let us know!

Our Story

WE ARE LISE & MAILEE Founders and trainers of Funtastic K9 Training, LLC. Our #1 goal is to teach dog owners with the help and results that they need and the understanding they deserve. We use the tools and energy level that works best for each dog. We are big advocates of the low level remote collar and prong collars. They are the most humane, effective and comfortable tool for our dogs and mainly they empower our loving humans.

Our story is not much different than yours. Yes, we had dogs that were also in the ‘red’ zone! Why? Well, because we allowed it all. All we gave was love, affection, free roam, free rewards etc. Our dogs were bratty, entitled, reactive on leash, did not listen to us when distractions were around, Indie bit people (people, dogs, critters etc!) and we were at our wits end too. We know how it feels to feel hopeless and thinking that our dogs will never change for the better but we found the perfect approach to turn things around. What needed to change was us. We needed to change, we needed to be believable, we needed to apply structure, rules and we needed to lead our dogs in our human world in order to get things in place.
