This amazing girl just wrapped up her training at Dog Nuance, and she absolutely crushed it! Indy is one of the most motivated Pitties I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with—she brought her A-game every session and clearly loved every second of it. 💪🐶

Hi guys!

Dog Nuance Dog Training is partnering with Rhodes Custom Finishes Painting Company for a local animal shelter donation drive—and we need your help! 🐾

From November 7 - 25, we’re collecting essential items for both cats and dogs. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference for animals in need! Here’s what we’re looking for:

Dry Food (open & labeled is okay!)

Toys & Treats

Leashes, Collars, Harnesses

Cages and Clean Beds

Towels & Blankets (gently used is great!)

To make donating easier, we’re offering free local pickup for cages in the Lake St. Louis and St. Peters areas. For all other items, please reach out to us for drop-off location information.

Let’s come together to show some love and support for our shelter pets. Thank you, St. Charles!

Sunday Secrets: Say It Once!

This week’s secret: Ask verbal cues only once. 🐾

Repeating commands teaches your dog to wait until you’ve said it multiple times before responding. So, when you say things like, “Sit... Sit... SIIIIIT!” it only encourages them to ignore the first few cues.

Practice giving the command once—if your dog doesn’t respond, pause and then reinforce the behavior with guidance or a hand signal. With consistency, your dog will learn to respond to the command the first time, every time! 🐕✨

Training a "Search!" cue

Training your dog to "Search!" is not only a fun & interactive activity, but also provides numerous benefits for both you & your pup! "Search" functions like an enrichment-cue, it encourages our dogs to BE dogs! This cue is great at getting our dogs to engage with their environment. This allows you to easily utilize grass as a real-world snuffle-mat. Using this exercise can provide hours of engaging enrichment!

When it's been 10-seconds since you last pet that husky-mutt husky-butt

It's important to not repeat a verbal-cue multiple times. By saying our cue, pausing, then using our hand-signal or lure; the dog will demonstrate once they understand the verbal cue. Interested in dog training? Ask me!

Winston has made HUGE strides of progress in his behavioral training! 🤩 Normally he is extremely dog-reactive, but here he makes fantastic choices even when we have multiple dogs screaming at us from across the street!
