Something to think about. Places like Chewey will survive without St. Pete's business. Do we really want our town to be all chain stores?

WE ARE CLOSING.....Now we have your attention....we WERE going to close our store at the end of our lease, but at the very last second (truly), decided that despite the hardships and financial instability, we just weren’t ready to give up quite yet. Our employees count on us, our customers count on us, and we truly want to educate pet parents and make sure their loved ones are the healthiest they can be so they can live as long as possible. This is our mission. Then the hurricanes hit, and now we are questioning our decision to re-sign, but it’s a done deal and we will persevere. Unless you’ve run your own business, you just have no idea what’s involved. We had no idea. It is a ton of work in the good times, and damn hard in the bad. Unfortunately, we started in the bad. Covid. Not part of our business plan, but we made it through….not easily.
If you want to actually have a downtown and keep St. Pete unique and wonderful, small businesses are part of that. Watching hordes of Amazon, Walmart and Chewy trucks everywhere makes us very sad and frustrated. We deliver for free same day, have competitive prices, and you can actually talk to us for informed advise on health and nutrition. If you want St. Pete retail to keep disappearing and offer nothing but the same franchises as the suburbs, keep shopping online, or SHOP LOCAL whenever possible, and keep building St. Pete’s unique and fabulous vibe. ❤️🐾

I'm okay, having fled the area with Joey and his mom to Bella/Ari's mom and dad's new place (THANK YOU!!) out of the area but in FL. Yesterday, was a rough day but one filled with gratitude. By chance, I happened to run into Max and his BFF, his mom, Donna. The last couple of years haven’t been easy ones, as Max had gone blind, deaf and senile. Yesterday, I learned he also had bone cancer. Donna let me know she was saying goodbye to him this weekend (turned out to be yesterday) and I got the chance to love all over him one last time. Max was a prince. Donna used to call me his girlfriend. It was an honor. 💔🙏🏻🌈

I found out that last night, the unofficial mayor of Vinoy Park, the national treasure who almost made it to his 18th birthday, Sparky, made his transition to the Rainbow Bridge where I'm sure his next-door neighbors, Bonnie & Clyde, were waiting to welcome him. Sparky was an amazing gentleman, loved all the dogs he encountered, and was always smiling. He had hip issues for the last couple of years of his long life, using boots to help steady his walk, but he never let it get him down. He always had more love to share. Until we meet again, sweet boy.

Sadly, Clyde wasn’t our only loss that day. Bianca, who was beloved by Bella (and her mom’s daughter’s dog, whom I sat for on occasion along with Bella) and all who knew her, also crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge. Bianca started off being protected (well sort of) by Bella to having to become Bella’s protector when she became weak. Whenever Bianca visited, we loved getting the Pom Squad together (with Nancy Drew and little Mollie) for photo shoots and walks. I know her family is missing her terribly but I’m sure she was welcomed by Bella and Mollie and shown the ropes as she was finally free of illness. You were loved Bianca and will forever be missed.

The previous post was the passing of Bonnie and now I pay tribute to her beloved brother, Clyde, who transitioned to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. I’ve included images from my last stay with Clyde, this past spring, since most of the classic photos are below in his sister’s tribute. While Bonnie was the blonde bombshell, Clyde was the lover, always ready to snuggle and wanting to be as close as possible. He was perfection, a gentleman in the best sense of the word. He allowed Bonnie to rule the roost and he seemed a little lost without her. How could he not be? They were litter-mates and together for most of his life. Now they are together again. My heart is with you, Debbie, and thank you for trusting me with your fabulous family members. I can’t even imagine how different your world is today.

I'm heartbroken to let you all know that the blonde bombshell, Bonnie -- of Bonnie & Clyde fame -- has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. She and Clyde were litter-mates and lifelong BFFs, so my heart truly breaks for him as well as their mom, Debbie. Bonnie loved nothing more than playing with her bro, stalking squirrels, chasing her beloved ball, and eating anything she could, especially if she wasn't allowed to have it -- like her neighbor Sparky's food. While her mom was a bit worried about my introducing her to the littles in our St. Pete pack, she did surprisingly well with them -- especially Mollie, who enjoyed having her own private bodyguard on walks. They're reunited now...along with Bella and Watson. 💔🌈

It is with profound sadness that I share that Bella has transitioned to the Rainbow Bridge, welcomed undoubtedly by Mollie, Watson, and so many others. She was smart, sassy, an incredible teacher, she suffered no fools and loved being adored. She knew I worshipped the ground her paws walked on, even as it got harder and harder for her to walk. My heart is with Marcia, Tim, and their entire family. Thank you for the privledge of letting me spend time with and love your precious baby.
