That's tough for us Floridians and Mahi Mahi has the right idea. She's content nestled under her blanket here in our warm office while we all brave this “arctic chill”.

Remember, if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pets. 🐶💗😸 Limit outdoor activities, especially for short-haired breeds when temperatures drop and make sure your pets always have a warm and dry place to stay comfortable and safe.

Feel-Good Friday Moments with Fletcher 🐶 Say hello to one super hero patient who recently underwent foreign body surgery. Fletcher, a real sweetheart, 💗 is now back to being his happy, energetic self, and we couldn’t be prouder of his recovery!

What is Foreign Body Surgery?

Pets are naturally curious, and sometimes that curiosity leads to swallowing things they shouldn’t, like toys, socks, or other objects. Foreign body surgery is a procedure to remove these items from the digestive tract, preventing dangerous blockages or complications.

Foreign body surgery is a common procedure performed by veterinarians and an often life-saving operation that allows pets to return to their normal, joyful selves—just like Fletcher!

If you suspect your pet has swallowed something they shouldn’t, don’t wait! Call us for guidance and care during our regular hours or your preferred veterinary emergency hospital after hours.

Tips to Comfort & Protect Your Pets 🐶😺 during New Year’s Celebrations! 🎉

We hope our Island Life pet families have a wonderful and safe New Year! With celebrations, pets can become stressed from the sound of fireworks or may just need some extra comfort. 💗

How Can You Help Reduce Stress For Your Pets on New Year’s Eve?

✅ Keep pets indoors and in a safe and comforting place away from loud noises.

✅ Ensure you have calming medications for pets who experience stress and anxiety due to fireworks and loud noises.

✅ Pet Identification is key to help reunite lost pets who may escape when stressed. Make sure your pet has a collar with a Pet ID tag and is also microchipped.

✅ If away during fireworks festivities, play music or leave the TV on for pets who are at home.

Our office will be closed on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1st, yet will reopen on Thursday, January 2nd at 8:00 am.

Plan for Your Pets for the New Year’s Holiday with Island Life Animal Hospital!

As our team members share time with their pet families and friends for New Year’s, please make note of our modified ours on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Before we close early on New Year’s Eve, December 31st, please schedule requests for prescription refills and pet food for pickup before 12:00 noon.

We’ll be happy to have your pet meds and food ready by calling 727-289-3776. 🐕‍🦺🐈

Our modified office hours are as follows:

Announcement! 🐶🐾😺 We’re closing early today, Friday, Dec. 27th, at 4:30 PM.

We appreciate your understanding with this change in our schedule.

Please call our office before 4:30 PM today to schedule appointments or request prescription refills for your pets for pickup next Monday and Tuesday (by 1:00 PM) before the New Year’s holiday!

If you have a pet emergency outside of our operating hours, please refer to your preferred animal ER or call our office for a list of recommended animal emergency providers in our local area at 727-289-3776.

We had a pawsitively magical time celebrating this year’s Client Appreciation Holiday Event! Over 60 amazing pets joined us to pose with Santa Claus and make memories to treasure. From festive outfits to wagging tails and curious whiskers, your pets made this event truly special!

A huge THANK YOU to all of our wonderful clients who brought their beloved pets to share in the holiday spirit. We loved seeing you all and celebrating the season together.

And of course, a special shoutout to Vet Tech Nick, who did an incredible job greeting each pet with warmth and holiday cheer—and for stepping into the boots of our beloved Santa Claus! 🎅🐕🐈

Part 1: Thank You for an Amazing Day! 🎉🐾🎄
We had a wonderful turnout for our Client Appreciation Holiday Event and it’s all thanks to our wonderful pet community!

Santa was very busy greeting so many pet families! We would like to thank all who supported the event with a special thank you to Boehringer Ingelheim who sponsored our food truck and raffle baskets.

What great fun with a delicious lunch provided by Dochos Latin Bistro. Our pet basket raffles raised $290 for Tampa Bay Watch and over 60 pet portraits were taken with Santa.

Stay-tuned as we post several parts to this amazing event!

A huge thank you to our amazing team for makung this event so incredibleI We thank Sarah, our Practice Manager, for meticulously working out so many details that made this day so special.
