Jovial Miniature Schnauzers

Jovial Miniature Schnauzers Welcome! Jovial is a hobby kennel of Champion Miniature Schnauzer show & companion dogs since 1993. Champion dogs by AKC Breeder of Merit, Dr. Michael Ward

GREETINGS! I'm Michael Ward, founder of Jovial Miniature Schnauzers, show dog exhibitor and, AKC Breeder of Merit of Champion dogs. In 1992, while reading Shakespeare in high school, I found the word JOVIAL. I knew then it was my kennel name. That same year, I met Yvonne (Billie) Phelps, of Sole Baye Miniature Schnauzers, who introduced me to my first bitch, whose line I've maintained to this date

. My gratitude for Billie is expressed in the pride I take breeding dogs worthy of her kennel's pedigree. Over the course of 20 years, Jovial Kennels has bred and/or shown Miniature Schnauzers, Scottish Terriers, Brussels Griffons and, Standard Poodles. My first show dog was a Scottish Terrier named Jug, then Felix a black Miniature Schnauzer, trotted the show ring. In 1995, the professional handler to which I introduced my then co-breeding partner, won Best in Show at Westminster Kennel Club with Peggy Sue, a Scotty who belted 32 Best in Shows. Now, I focus my time and energy on Miniature Schnauzers as my hobby and love. Occasionally, Jovial has puppies available for sale to companion and show homes. Please contact Michael if interested.

The Story

GREETINGS! I'm Dr. Michael Ward, founder of Jovial miniature schnauzers, champion show dog exhibitor and AKC Breeder of Merit. In 1992, while reading Shakespeare, I discovered the word JOVIAL. I knew then it would adorn the name of every dog I’d breed! That same year I met Yvonne (Billie) Phelps of Sole Baye miniature schnauzers. She introduced me to my first bitch whose progeny I've maintained to this date. Over the course of 20some years, Jovial’s bred and/or shown miniature schnauzers, Scottish terriers, Brussels griffons, and standard poodles. My first show dog was a scotty named Jug, then Felix was the first miniature schnauzer to trot the ring, yet no one can deny my interest in winning Best in Show in Madison Square Garden (yes, Westminster Kennel Club).

I focus on miniature schnauzers as my hobby and love. Occasionally puppies are available to companion and show homes.
