We all know our furry friends LOVE to hang out in the kitchen, hoping for a bite or two.

But be careful! Many human foods that are safe for us can be TOXIC for pets, such as chocolate, xylitol, grapes, meat bones, garlic, onions, and yeast dough. When in doubt, avoid feeding your pet any human food to keep them safe and healthy!

Mental stimulation is important for pets of all ages, not just young ones. Encourage your adult pet to learn new tricks, solve food puzzles, and sniff out treats to keep their cognitive function strong well into their golden years.

As pets age, they can suffer from cognitive dysfunction, which is similar to Alzheimer's disease in humans. This can cause anxiety and stress if they forget familiar faces or the location of their food bowl.

Keep your senior pet's mind sharp by providing plenty of enrichment activities. Call 727-327-5141 to talk to your veterinarian about how to keep your furry friend happy and healthy.

Cats and dogs are adept at hiding their pain, discomfort, or illness until their conditions are advanced, but recognizing their subtle cues is paramount for early detection, when treatment is likely more successful. Check out our latest blog post to learn signs our pets give us about their health and whether they need veterinary care.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if your pet could verbally tell you when they are unwell or in pain? Unfortunately, our pets can communicate only with body language that is often subtle, but you can learn to recognize their signals by staying vigilant to changes in their health and behavior. Keep your furry friends safe from fertilizer exposure!

While most fertilizers are generally safe, your pet may experience skin irritation or mild gastrointestinal symptoms if they come into contact with or ingest the product. If you suspect your pet has been exposed, remove the product from their skin using warm water and monitor for any symptoms.

Follow instructions carefully and keep your pet away from fertilized areas to keep them happy and healthy!

A healthy diet is important, but so is exercise! Encourage your furry friend to get up and get moving every day. Even a short burst of activity can help. For cats, a few 5- or 10-minute play sessions throughout the day are best.

Dogs, on the other hand, benefit from a longer walk or a game of fetch. Keeping your pet active is key to helping them maintain a healthy weight.

Need ideas for exercising with your pet? Reach out to our team for tips! Call 727-327-5141 to talk to your veterinarian.

Did you know there's a way to clean your dog's teeth without using a toothbrush? Enter: dog dental wipes! Here's why you should consider them:

👉 Dental wipes are a convenient alternative to toothbrushes and toothpaste, especially if your furry friend doesn't tolerate brushing well.
👉 They are designed to help remove plaque from your dog's teeth by being rubbed against their teeth and gums.
👉 Dental wipes are especially great for dogs with smaller mouths or those who won't sit still for a traditional brushing session.
👉 While they can't clean as deeply as a toothbrush, they are still an effective way to promote your pet's dental health and prevent dental disease.

Have you tried dental wipes for your furry friend? Let us know in the comments below!

Bored pets often entertain themselves by doing something mischievous, destructive, or dangerous. A bored puppy may chew furniture, while a bored cat may become an aggressive bully.

Without proper physical exercise and mental stimulation, pets can develop many problem behaviors. They may also show signs of anxiety, fear aggression, and more.

Keep your furry friend happy and healthy by providing ample physical and mental stimulation. Need ideas? Call 727-327-5141 to talk to your veterinarian.

Fear and stress are common underlying causes of behavior problems in cats. Signs of fear in cats include ears laid back or flattened against the head, crouched body posture, tail tucked under the body, and legs tucked under the body.

Cats exhibiting an arched back, straight up tail, and bristled hair are called the "Halloween Cat" and are more likely to become aggressive if the source of their fear is not removed. It's best to avoid interacting with cats exhibiting these aggressive postures.

Dogs are known to eat a wide variety of things, sometimes disgusting things, which lead them to vomit. Vomiting on occasion is typically nothing to worry about, but if the vomiting is coupled with other health issues or it persists, it may be time for a veterinary visit. In our latest blog post, we explain why dogs vomit and when to be concerned.

Occasionally, dogs vomit, sometimes because they ate something they shouldn't have or because they suffer from food sensitivities, but they recover quickly. However, persistent vomiting can signal that your pet needs immediate veterinary care, particularly if the vomiting is accompanied by other sig...
