5 Gallon Challenge
5 Gallon Challenge

I wanted to teach my boys to place on a five gallon bucket. Why? Confidence, body awareness, curiosity and fun! Although my boys can place on a lot of different objects, they have never been asked to do this before. I left in enough of the bumbling and difficult parts to show you that this process isn’t “easy”. They did great! They went from “what in world are we doing?” to “we got this!”

The simple “sit”command proves its worth - again.

I take my own dogs out for training days as well. Today we worked on “pacing” while in the heel position. I added difficulty to my dog’s routine by asking him to match my pace while going up and down stairs. Stairs, doorways and hallways act as funnels for a dog’s energy - it speeds them up. When you ask a dog to move slowly through those types of areas, they will get better at managing heightened energy. Click on the video to hear me talk you through it.
