Meet Bailee!
She is an 8 week old English Cream Golden Retriever.
I am so excited to have Bailee starting my Socialization and Training Program. This program includes private in-home training and socialization outings with a certified trainer and behavior consultant that focuses on building confidence and resiliency.
Early socialization experiences are crucial for helping puppies become confident, relaxed adults. The primary goal of our puppy socialization outings will be to introduce Bailee to new things in a positive way. Bailee will experience new people, places, sounds and surfaces in a way that is personalized her individual needs, and that help Bailee interact safely and confidently with the world around her. We will also be working on handler engagement, calm behavior in distracting locations. She will practice watching people and other dogs calmly and quietly, learn how to explore the environment while still checking in, and the skills required to help her become a confident and resilent adult.
Each outing will include a mix of socialization along with foundational training and of course a whole lot of fun.

Rain or Shine Canine & Island Animal Hospital have added a new social class to our Sunday roster.
In addition to our Puppy Social classes, we are now offering Tiny Teen Socials.
These socials are for adolescent puppies under 20 lbs, the focus will be to continue building social skills and confidence through structured, supervised play.
The class is run by three accredited positive reinforcement trainers:
Kate Johnson, CPDT-KA, CCBC-KA, FDM,
Cathy Thrift, ABCDT
Bri James, ABCDT

We had a magical day at Puppy Socials Sunday Funday! All the puppies were great play matches which is so fun for the puppies but also for us trainers.

Sasha is a 16 week old Swiss Shepherd.
This stunning girl is currently learning and loving all of her foundational skills.
True to her breed Sasha is brilliant and a very fast learner. She wants to work and is very attentive with her handler. In other words, she’s really fun to train with!

Sasha’s family are doing an excellent job with early socialization and training which is key for all dog breeds but especially a breed like Sasha’s that can be sensitive and highly alert to any changes in her environment. I’ve been blown away by her focus and calm temperament. Good genetics and proper socialization are so important and Sasha appears to be thriving because she’s benefiting from both.
Such a cool dog.

G is for Gracie!!
This adorable 12 week old Shih Tzu puppy is learning the Leave It game and loving every minute.

Meet Teddy Bear, he is a 15 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

Sunday Funday Puppy Socials were full of all the good boys and girls today!!

We had a great time today. There were new puppies who came in a little nervous but ended up not wanting to leave when play group was over and just wanted to keep playing with their new best friends.
We had some regulars whose continued growth and development each week makes this job so rewarding.

Meet Knox!
This gorgeous baby is a 16 week old Great Dane. He’s one of the greatest Danes that ever did Dane.
I just love him.
Knox is currently going through Rain or Shine Canine’s Puppy Program.
So far he is quite skilled at SIT, DOWN, DROP, LEAVE IT, PLACE, WAIT and RECALL. At our next session we will work on LEASH SKILLS.
The most important thing to me is not that my puppies are brilliant superstars (which Knox absolutely is) but that the puppies and their humans have fun and feel comfortable when we train. I want my puppy clients so stoked about training that it’s their favorite thing to do; Knox’s body language when he trains with his dad is pure joy and his dad loves it too!

There is just something about sweet Rosie!
I always enjoy my session with this little sweetheart; she’s a 7 month old Cavachon and she loves training and learning. I always leave our sessions with a smile on my face.
