Here are a few more pictures from our Fall for Jesus Festival. We pray that seeds were planted and God will make them grow. “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Early mornings on the farm are so worth the 4:51am wake up calls as he comes running in my room, “Hi, mommy!” He was truly born to live this life. He loves watching the sun come up and feeding the animals right at daylight.

Lulu, our fun sized equine extraordinaire, had some sweet visitors today. She might be small, but the joy of the Lord is her strength and she’s on a mighty mission to help young cowboys and cowgirls connect to Christ.

Summer is not a session horse. She came to us from a bad situation and she is very skittish. The kids all love her though. So, a while ago, some of them started doing little things with her, and, today, they got to get on her! We’re no horse trainers, but we believe everything God says in His word. We can do all things through Christ.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:7

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

Led by God. This is the session where we practice leading. I usually take the participant and horse to the lushest grass or an area with a big patch of clover. Then, I don’t give any direction, tell the participant to lead the horse through the cones, and watch what happens. Inevitably, the horse goes to town on this new buffet he/she has just been brought to and the participant spends the whole time trying to pull the horses head up from said buffet. After they make it through the cones, and the participant is exhausted and the horse pretty proud of themselves, we stop and discuss. Did the participant think leading the horse was harder or easier than they thought it was going to be? I always get the same answer: much harder. We discuss reasons they think this might be and ways to get the horse to walk with them instead of pull against them. Then, we discuss how this looks very similar to God leading us. Why do we pull so hard? We are looking at all the green grass (exciting things, goals we want to accomlish, things we want to buy) and not even paying attention to God, who tells us He has way better things for us, more than we could ask or imagine.
“Be not like the horse or the mule, which lack understanding, which must have their mouths held firm with bit and bridle, or else they will not come with you.” Psalm‬ ‭32‬:‭9‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Persistence pays off.

Lilly is a great session horse. She is calm, laid back, brave, kind, and gentle. She is also the most stubborn when it comes to picking up her hooves. And, of course, this is most participant’s favorite grooming activity.

Eventually, and I mean after numerous sessions, Lilly will allow the participants to pick her hooves (sometimes). It can be very frustrating for the participants, and the session leader, but it also serves to teach many lessons. One is that persistence pays off! Jesus tells us two stories about persistence. He tells us about the neighbor who keeps knocking and the widow who drove the judge crazy until he granted her request.

Jesus tells us to keep seeking, keep asking, keep knocking. We discuss with participants what this means to us in our daily lives, how this can provide hope for us when we are waiting for God to do something for us, and the importance of never giving up.

It is true that twice as many young people today call themselves an atheist as previous generations. But, it is also true that 200 times a second someone on planet earth is typing into a search engine, basically the question, “Is God Real?”

Let’s show them that He is. Let’s show them by how we live our lives, let’s show them by the absolute truth of the word of God, let’s show them by His creation that speaks of Him.

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

If you are raising young people in this generation, helping raise young people, teaching young people, and/or disciplining young people and you don’t know the terms biblical worldview, postmodernism, and progressive chrisitanity, you need to educate yourselves. “We cannot stand idly by while our children leave the faith in droves. We simply cannot shake our heads and accept defeat. We must fight for our sons and daughters.”- Voddie Bachman

We are humbly trying to do our part in our Cross Rails Ministries, Inc.sessions program and in hosting these sessions here at Acres of Hope.

My heart is for the children. I long for them to know their value, their worth, how much they are loved, who they are in Christ, that they were born on purpose and for a purpose. I long to see their little hearts whole and healed. I long for them to keep their innocence for as long as they can or for them to get it back. Sometimes I wonder if I’m doing enough, if anything is happening. But, I know God is here in this place and I know he is working. And, he’s so kind to give me little reminders. This participant was hesitant from his first session. When Jersey stepped on his foot at their first meeting, his hesitation grew to fear. We have been working on building relationship and trust and conquering fear. He has not wanted to lead the Jersey by himself or stand too close to him. Today, he led Jersey through some cones and sat on his back(he just wanted to try for a second or he would normally have a helmet on). His little lips were shaking, but he did it and he was so proud of himself. And, we’ve been working on a Bible verse. He could never remember it, but today he spit it out like he’s known it his whole life. “Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9. I pray I am planting seeds of Gods love for them, His nearness to them, and His great plans for them. I pray that God will cause the seeds to grow! Cross Rails Ministries, Inc.

“I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭3‬:‭6‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬
