Good morning, everyone,
After five wonderful years of breeding high-quality and pedigreed pet rats I have made the decision to close my rattery. I would like to assure you all that this is a decision that I have made after months of careful consideration- ultimately, I am not able to give this program the attention it once had and deserves.
My rats and relationships with all of my wonderful rat owners have played an integral role in my life- you all mean the world to me; every rat buyer has been carefully vetted to ensure only the best for these special little critters. I am eternally grateful to all of you for taking the most wonderful care of the rats purchased from my program and loving them as I do. I started this program because of the lack of education surrounding rat temperaments and the vital role selective breeding plays in creating a confident, friendly, and healthy pet. This belief was instilled after seeing how many people use poorly bred/pet store rats for the sport of barnhunt which is what originally piqued my interest in rats. I am very proud to say I have created wonderful rats who thrive in barnhunt and family homes and can only hope my program can encourage barnhunt participants and organizers to purchase from ethical breeders which ensures the rats are healthy and happy when being used for the game. While rats are small critters, they are nonetheless deserving of our time, veterinary care, proper husbandry, and the same level care we give our dogs and cats- they are not "just rats." I will continue to advocate for proper husbandry, breeding, and devotion to rats even though I will be halting my program.
Logistically speaking- I will be starting to rehome my younger retired rats along with the current litters I have (they are not quite ready yet, post to come!) If you are interested in babies or retired rats, please send me a message.
Any rats that have been returned to my care will stay in my care until they pass away. I will not be deleting this page and will remain in contact with past, current, and future owners of my rats- continuing as a mentor and guide to ensure superb quality of life for rats who leave my care.
As a responsible and ethical breeder my doors will continue to remain open for any of my rats as I will continue to require them to be returned if the owner can no longer care for them- I refuse to contribute to any sort of rat "homelessness" as I am responsible for every animal I produce starting the day it enters this world to the day it leaves. I have spent years perfecting and crafting my lines- I would love to see them continue which means I could be open to rehoming to another breeder, but I will be extremely picky if I even do.
Thank you to all of my supporters, friends, and my dear rat owners. You have all made this possible and I am eternally grateful for this program and everything that has come along with it. My rats are my world, and I hope they can encourage you all to show care and compassion for even the smallest of creatures.
