Good evening everyone! I hope everyone is doing well. Many of you might recognize this face of my personal dog that used to come to the salon with me every day- she and I need your support. Last month I was out of state and she was attacked by a neighboring off leash dog in my dog sitters garage. After 2 days of failed attempts to find a surgeon to help, she ended up at Guardian Vet towards NYC and getting emergency surgery after sustaining significant bites to her abdomen. In total I have spent over $17k between vet bills, legal bills, and overall care. I learned the hard way that vets will only take a dog if the person can pay 50-75% of the estimated bill. Thankfully I had savings, credit cards, friends, and family to help make sure we could get her the help she needed BUT not everyone does. I have received so much help during this difficult time that it is time to pay it forward to other people in a similar situation that DONT have the support or funds I did. We are selling shirts and stickers and all proceeds will go to this cause. Please private message Salty Paws Grooming Salon if you’re interested in donating or ordering.

Hi everyone! Christa here! I have been receiving some messages these last few months and wanted to check in! I miss Salem but am doing well. Aside from a pretty serious incident on 4th of July that required a couple of surgeries and rendered me unable to do much of anything for a while (what is my life without chaos? haha! but i'm in GREAT spirits!) I am doing amazing. Charlie and I are all settled in to our new place in Columbia County and I am fully healed so I am back to traveling/exploring (most recent trip was to New Orleans!). Charlie just had surgery 2 weeks ago on her other CCL and is recovering well!

I have taken a new administration position at a dog training and hiking facility, Boston for the Dogs . It is an amazing experience and I feel right at home. I have missed grooming a lot so I am even offering one on one lessons here to clients!

I hope everyone is doing well and I think of you all often.

Pawsitively Dapper is officially closed.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every single client that has stepped foot in to my salon. When I opened in 2020, I never imagined my salon would flourish the way that it did. I have been grooming for 13 years and took a chance on myself. I’m happy I did but I’m more happy that I picked Salem to do it. I’m thankful for Borador Animal Hospital and how supportive they have been since day 1. But mostly, I’m thankful for every single one of you. Every recommendation, every conversation, every day you chose to trust me with your four legged family member.

Owning your own business is difficult and this one grew much quicker than I could have ever dreamt of. Many of you have stuck with me through all of the growing pains of learning just how to navigate being one of the only fear free, large dog grooming salons in the area. I can’t thank you enough.

All of your pets will be held near and dear to my heart.

Lastly, I couldn’t have continued to grow and do the amount of dogs PD saw a day without my assistants. I have always believed half of what makes a good groom is the bath and these girls have never allowed a poorly bathed dog step foot on to my table. Their dedication and loyalty is unmatched and I wish them nothing but the best in their future.

Kitsu is getting her own post today. Her first visit was a bit stressful for all parties. Nova Scotia duck trolling retriever coat is a bit different than most double coated dogs. It was extremely matted and kitsu was a nervous/anxious dog. She did not enjoy being touched by someone she didn’t know, and really didn’t enjoy being brushed. I tried all conditioners and using the dryer but she was beyond stressed. Unfortunately this meant I made the difficult decision to call the owner and suggested shaving as it was the best solution for how uncomfortable she was. Mom agreed. I highly recommended a 4 week bathing schedule to get kitsu used to grooming, brushing, and bathing. I thought I’d never see her again. Since august of 2020, I have seen her every 5 weeks. She has grown in to such a good girl and our relationship is unmatched. This is a dog that I had to muzzle as precaution for some parts and couldn’t do her front half with confidence- with each visit she’s learned to trust me and I her. I never push her out of her comfort zone and today I cried when she and her mom left. This dog is exactly why I love to specialize with anxious/nervous dogs. I’m going to miss her so much.
