Thank you to everyone who came yesterday! We raised $130 towards go towards the spay/neuter fund so THANK YOU!! Lunch was great at Baylee Joes bbq followed by ice cream at The Mercantile 😋 we had a beautiful ride and a great day!! Big thanks to The Bunny and Scott with CMA Riders Salem for everything you did to help plan this! Couldn’t have done it without you!

Add sweet Phoebe to that list because she found her home tonight!

As a reminder, I will be at the shelter from 6-8 pm today (the 5th) along with my volunteers. We had several adoptions already this afternoon, including some of our long term animals! 6 adoptions total! Fingers crossed we have even more find homes this evening!! Hazel, Benny, Dean, Poly, Dee, and Cici - happy tails!!

We will be OPEN for adoptions outside our normal hours on the following days:
THURSDAY 9/5 from 6-8 pm
WEDNESDAY 9/11 from 4-8 pm
THURSDAY 9/12 from 5-8 pm

We will continue to be open regular hours so this is in addition to those hours. I will be posting later on tonight new information on our benefit ride on the 7th as well as videos of our available dogs!

Sad Announcement 😓
After 34 years, barring some HUGE miracles, DCAWS will closing its shelter SEPTEMBER 20th.

We were not able to rebound from Covid and the subsequent loss of St. Louis as a satellite. We have been struggling to keep ends met and simply can't do it anymore.
We are planning on keeping our not-for-profit status to continue our community outreach when supplies are available. We will also be keeping our facebook active, shifting the focus to lost/found animals and rehoming/intervention with our former graduates. Also, we will keep the phone number active for microchip calls and best to email us at [email protected].

We DO appreciate all of the support we have gotten through the years because ‘the little shelter that could’ did because of all of you.

WE NEED YOUR HELP ONE FINAL TIME.
We do have one more HUGE ask. The following album (Immediate Placement of Animals) are the dogs that still need placement – either through adoption or transfer to another rescue. We will be posting cats too.
PLEASE SHARE to your page or anyone else you can think can help.
Pick a favorite post of an animal and share that - make it a goal to help that one. Anything to find them good homes. In the past our village has done phenomenal things - I know we can do this.

We have limited time to accomplish this. Thank you!🐾

Guess who got a home today!! Evie!! She is going home to friends and plenty of room to play. She also has grand children very close by. 🐾❤️ Happy trails sweet girl!!

Oh my heart!! ❤️ Meet Jackson. He is the sweetest little pup you'll ever meet. He is about 10 weeks old, black Lab mix. Jackson was abandoned alone in a rural area and nice people found him. He would have never made it out there by himself.
Gotta meet this sweet boy!! 🐾
He definitely has the puppy dog eyes 😍

ADOPTED!!
Little Ms. Evie is really needing a forever home with someone to play with! 😓
Her brother was adopted over the weekend, leaving her all alone. Evie is the last of her liter to find a home. She is a hound/cattle dog mix about 6 months old.

Ready for Adoption!
