I've been working on trapping 2 possibly 3 small dogs in an area of NE Salem that is kinda rough.

Besides the fact these guys have been running around for almost a week and crossing a busy street it's freaking freezing!!

I've spent the last 3 or so hours freezing my car hoping to trap one of them at least. I hate knowing they are out here. Where I'd their home/family? Why are they out alone without collars? Why doesn't anyone recognize them?

Considering we are in town and they appear feed and "healthy" it's unlikely they were dumped. Maybe they just free roam and their family isn't concerned? Maybe they were newly adopted and got out? Maybe the escaped a pet sitter?

There are many possibilities but it still come down to human error or negligence. Rather than being pi**ed off 24/7 I'm trying to focus that energy into spreading awareness and education.

With that said PLEASE spay/neuter and microchip your pets. Educate yourself on their needs and best way to communicate with them.

The 3 rule of rescue dogs can also help people understand the importance to "think like a dog". Please read, share and help spread animal awareness.

Susie Q had her first photo shoot with the amazing Terri Jacobson Once the weather is warmer we will try an outside session.

Susie is a sweet heart who just needs love and patience until she feels safe. Then she is a ferocious tail wagging, loveable pitty. She was a stray I trapped in the woods outside of Monmouth, clearly she's got a story.

Please spay/neuter and microchip your pets!!

I'm exhausted from running around rounding up pets that aren't identifiable. Some sit in the shelter for the 3 day stray hold and then their family decides not to claim them.

People are the problem and why we are in a pet crisis! Be a responsible pet parent.

Holy cow, you guys made my morning!! I've got the best VILLAGE!!

STOP DUMPING YOUR PETS!!

I was contacted this morning by a couple that live out in the country and have become a dumping area. An emaciated pitty showed up at their neighbors house overnight. Unfortunately both house holds have multiple dogs so they gave him a blanket, food and water until I got there.

Surprisingly he has a microchip but the owner hasn't returned my call. As always, I'm hoping the dog just got lost or stolen and not dumped. However, the dogs condition makes me worry.

He is a very sweet boy and rode perfectly fine to Marion County Dog Services to wait for an owner and/or serve his stray hold. Video in comments.

HAPPY UPDATE 1/22 (video in comments)

Tonight this sweet boy got to meet his potential new family!! This is an amazing family, I've been good friends with them for many years AND they adopted Echo who I trapped almost 2 years ago. They understand dumped babies need extra TLC.

After the two week trial he will officially become a part of their family. Let's welcome Charlie to rescue and on to a brighter future. Both boys played until they were exhausted 🥰

Thank you to the staff at Marion County Dog Services for allowing us to meet at their facility before officially pulling him.

Pets are not disposable!! If you choose to have a pet you are responsible for them for THEIR entire life.

Puppies grow up fast and unless you start obedience training early, you create the monster you dump.

I'm so glad to have saved this guy!! He was crossing a major road and it's literally freezing out. I wish I could find the person who dumped him.

Thank you to everyone who reported sightings, the amazing family that let me trap on their property and everyone that supports my efforts. Together we are saving lives.

This baby will need a safe spot to land, can you open your home to foster or foster to adopt? Little Critters Rescue can pull him and PAL - Prevent a Litter - Oregon will neuter him.

He is safe as of 2pm!!! He is scared but sweet. We are headed to Marion County Dog Services

Update: I saw him walking down a driveway just after 11. I spoke with the home owners and currently have equipment set up. Now he just needs to be hungry enough to circle back to the trap. Hopefully have him before dark.

People stop dumping your pets!! This poor guy appears to be another one dumped on the outskirts of town at the wildlife refuge.

Besides the fact that it's freezing!!! The poor pups have no idea where they are and are terrified. Just because they are "animals" doesn't mean they will survive. It's like if I were to dump you in a foreign country, would you survive?

Sightings are needed, I'm currently in the area, but if you see something say something. EVERYONE can DO something!

Hopefully I can contain this guy today, I will post an update once I do. Paws crossed!

This is Spud. He'll be a year old in February. Cats are a no. He gets around dogs that are his size. Smaller dogs unknown. His owner is unable to keep him and has reached out to help. Today is neuter day!!!
