The ancestral DNA tests... we've dealt with them for years! Trust me, it gets old. Far beyond just us, these tests have caused many headaches across the horse industry. Folks end up with anything and everything for results. BLM mustangs with warmblood breeds etc.

Generally speaking, most already have their minds made up when it comes to the tests. They either take criticism well, or they get extremely angry if it isn't what they want to hear. There is not a lot of in-between! I have shared with many, the explanations of Dr. Sponenberg himself (as well respected as any), but many times it falls on deaf ears.

The long and short of it is, the tests are not accurate for ancestral DNA, and they certainly are not meant to delineate your horse's breed (reference Sponenberg). This has long been regarded with canine ancestral tests, but when it comes to horses, emotions seem to run high.

In conclusion...these tests do not tell you what breed a horse is, siblings can have different results, and finally, as it relates to us...if it tells you have an Argentine Criollo and you have no paperwork or background affirming that, then no, you don't! Exceptionally few purebred Criollos have been imported. For ourselves, we need to test some of ours for the sake of argument, because they are not likely to come back with AC results. Also, Argentine Criollo is not a breed in and of itself. Argentina is one member of FICCC (the international Criollo breeders federation).

This was shared with us by one of our multi time buyers, and the one now pioneering the Criollos in Canada, Marv Vandenhoek.

Did Americans know about Emilio Solanet and his work with the Criollo horses? Yes, they did. You will also see him mentioned by the early North American colonial Spanish horse proponent, Bob Brislawn.

Seeing as the cat is mostly out of the bag! Our big announcement is we are moving our entire operation to Dent county Missouri in September! This move has been a long time coming and has been a calculated move, not without much deliberation, study and picking of anyone and everyone's brains we could think of! Several scouting trips have been made to the beautiful Missouri Ozarks.

Why? That's a good question. We feel this will be a good move not only for us, but for the breed as well. Our current South Dakota location puts us a long way away from nearly everyone. Most foals we sell have gone east and South. This move not only puts us closer to the bulk of the US horse industry but also to other up and coming breeders in the ACHA. Northern Plains winters can be harsh and long (as anyone knows who's lived here), and summers short, and often hot and dry if not a drought. We look forward to a change of pace, four seasons, a lot less wind, and a shorter, milder winter, and more rain (yes, we already know about humidity 😜).

As a side note that's why we're encouraging potential buyers on the fence to pull the trigger if you're thinking about it. Not only will we have a price increase for 2024, but any unsold 2023 foals will incur a higher price tag in Missouri due to our own shipping costs to get them there. With that being said, we thank our buyers so far this year and we do still have two foals available! The gray filly out of Gravitas Genesis and Pepito the light dun c**t out of Jaguel Nati! Don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers!

SOLD! Our final offering for 2023. Gravitas Trinity (Jaguel Hilton x Jaguel Narda II), S*x: Filly, DOB: 6/5/23, Color: Bay. This is another cross everyone has enjoyed. You may remember past foals of this cross like Isabella (we shared a video earlier this year), Myles, and Gravitas De Soto. Trinity is a little tank! We always get a lot of bone out of this cross and this year is no exception! She is THICK! We've always found this cross to be laid back and more than handleable. Our buddy Facundo had an enjoyable time starting her older full sister Isabella under saddle this year. As always, Narda is our tallest mare, so if you want a Criollo on the taller side of the breed standard, this is the deal for you!

Next we're onto the 2023 fillies! First is Gravitas Virginia (Jaguel Hilton x Gravitas Genesis), S*x: Filly, DOB: 6/1/23, Color: Gray (born bay, already in the process of graying out, we suspect she'll look a lot like her dam). If you're looking for GRAY, this is your ticket. Between mom and pop, this cross is a guaranteed gray every year! Being that she's a young broodmare, we continue to be impressed with the foals we're getting out of Gravitas Genesis (Gen). Gen herself is of course Jaguel Tormentoso the Uruguayan champ, crossed on our own Jaguel Narda II. Virginia has the s***k with the athleticism to match! Tearing around the pasture she has flawless lead changes already!

SOLD! Next up, available for your consideration. Gavitas Lance (Gravitas Conquistador x Jaguel Latosa), S*x: C**t, DOB: 5/19/23, Color: Buckskin. This guy is a total beef cake! Definitely the biggest foal this year, if this were next year I'd keep him. Super cool, the first buckskin we've had, his dam is a beautiful, dappled buckskin! Lance is bold, curious, and self-confident. He was the first foal in the bunch to march right up to me and he enjoys playing with the dogs (chasing them). Great bloodlines as well, going back to Jaguel Tormentoso on his sire's side and Charque Hidalgo on his dam's! Somebody take him before I change my mind!

AVAILABLE! First up this year is Gravitas Pepito (Jaguel Hitlon x Jaguel Nati), S*x: C**t, DOB: 5/18/23, Color: Light Dun. This is that classic cross everyone continues to love! You might remember some of these from the past such as Gravitas Cortes. What you get out of these two is a solid, curious, and even keeled kind of horse, that's people oriented and wants to be with you! Really can't go wrong with this cross.

I think we sure got the best of both breeds on this one. He's all grown up from the curious little bay c**t from yesteryear. Hard to go wrong with BT Rubi and Invernada Hornero on the Criollo side and King and Peppy on the Quarter Horse side.

To our past customers, don't be shy to keep the updates coming, we love to see them! Kidd (Gravitas San Pedro) is really earning his keep now days. Some of you will remember him, he is out of our Criollo mare BB Esmeralda and the late San Pedro San (AQHA). He is registered with the American Half Quarter Horse Registry.

Finally back home, I've got a little correction, Nati's foal is a c**t! I think he's going to be a light dun like her. I've learned the hard way that that dun stripe can sneak up on you down the road!

Also Jaguel Latosa had a c**t while I was away that looks to be a buckskin at this point!
