About 10 years ago today my ex-coworker in engineering said the nicest/meanest thing to me: he said he hoped to never see me in our shared office space again 🙀🙀 Now on the surface that sounds a bit bitchy, but I knew at the time he was wishing me well— if I had showed up in that office again, that would’ve meant my dream of being a cat-themed entrepreneur didn’t work out— which was certainly a possibility given the statistics of business startups failing…
But I never did step foot in that office again for business purposes (I might’ve visited for lunch once or twice 😹 ) — and now that office is closed so I couldn’t go back if I wanted to. So I guess that’s settled 😺
Thank mew to all that have been supportive of my catrepreneurial journey over the past 10 years! I can’t believe I’m participating in my 10th Haunted Happenings market (which was the first outdoor market I ever attempted) this October 🎉🎉🎃🎃

This morning at we have the purrfect example of what keeps happening to all the catnip kickers I keep making — I put the box down for a second to say hi to owner Uri and a cafe kitty had claimed them all by the time I turned around again 😹😹 It’s only September and I’ve already entered the mode where every catnip kicker I sew is already claimed by pre-sales for wholesale clients and/or stock for the October Derby Square Notso Kitty booth (usually I get half way through October before this happens 🙀). I’ve made more kickers than ever, but I sell them faster than ever too so it’s been hard to keep up. Cats don’t care though— they’re just like “where are my kickers? I need more right meow”… It never ends ♾️😹 Wish me luck this busy Fall season in keeping our furry overlords appeased 🙏🏻😻

A week ago was the 10th anniversary of CatCon— 9 in-person and 2 virtual events have happened since the event’s debut in 2015, and I am proud that Notso Kitty participated in all of them 🎉🎉😻😻 Though I hope continues for many years, this was probably my last time flying across the country for any pop-up events with the Notso Kitty brand bc of personal reasons (mainly : busyness of , fear of planes, and increasing hatred of lugging s**t through airports). My CatCon era has been a crazy adventure and I’m so happy to have been a part of it all 😻😻🎉🎉 It seems unlikely that a girl that has called herself an unfluencer would make it this far at a huge convention— 10 years has been a surprisingly great run 🎉🎉😻😻 Cheers to the next round of unfluencers to try it 🥂✨

How could the 10th anniversary edition of be next weekend when it feels like just yesterday I received the 2014 Etsy message that would launch my professional kitty career? I remember receiving Susan’s note while having a particular tedious day in my previous engineering job. Up until that point I had been posting wacky hats that few cats would actually wear on Etsy as a form of rebellion from corporate life — I dreamed of the day I would no longer have to listen to the prattling on of men (all my bosses were male 🤮) who quite frankly should speak less (iykyk) 🤫 I had already been saying “I’m going to quit and make cat accessories” every day for 2 years, a serendipitous invitation was just the prompt I needed 😻😻😻 Thank you CatCon for being there from the very beginning of my officially professional cat life! I’m so happy to be attending the 10th anniversary event next weekend in Pasadena 🎉😻 See mew there? 😻🎉

Back in 2011, when Notso Kitty was more of an idea lab than an actual business I was contacted by people who desperately needed Elton John-inspired glasses for their cat’s Oscar’s Party look. I mean, who doesn’t need such things? In the moment I realized I was lucky to have the inspiration of the LGBTQIA+ community— the community that not only created the look I was cattifying— but was also most likely to support such creations 😻🎉🌈 Since then I have had many opportunities to be both further inspired by and supported by this community — and that’s why I’ve chosen to give back to this area of society in particular. This Caturday will be my 5th time vending at and my third year giving half the profits to 🎉🌈 I don’t get to do pop-ups much these days with running Salem Cat Museum, but this one is an important one. Hope to see you there 🎉🌈 Happy purride ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷🤍🤎🖤

Hi there 👋🏻 This is a proof-of-life post from Notso Kitty (Wendy) 😺 I’ve been going through a lot of changes this year with my business— rebooting at the end of 2024 has changed my focus pretty drastically. I still sew lots of cat toys and hats under the Notso Kitty brand, but I have cut back on pop-up events—for the rest of 2025 I will only be participating in , and 2/3 of the dates. Pop-ups take A LOT of energy and doing them all the time while working in a cat museum is not so sustainable. I will miss a few events like and that successfully hosted me for many years, but it’s time to let others take my spot in these marketplaces that are great for new businesses (if they can hack the heavier competition that has come with the times that is). Notso Kitty’s website still has plenty of cat toys and hats I made, but I also have added the contents of ’s gift shop to the site— making it hopefully easier to shop for catty things. Locals can now use code PICKMEUP to pickup online orders at Salem Cat Museum anytime during business hours.
Thanks for sticking with me through the changes 😻😻🎉🎉 I look forward to celebrating 10 years with Notso Kitty this Fall— hard to believe where the time has gone 💨💨💨

✨✨The Glitter Box ✨✨ My art piece of questionable taste for Salem Arts Festival’s tiny art spree is on display TODAY ONLY (5/30) at —after today it will be dropped off at Old Town Hall so that it can be a part of the art spree happening June 6th. I took the spree challenge of changing a designated box into a piece of “art” for charity— I used litter (unused 🤪😹), glitter, resin, polymer clay, acrylic paint, and a found plastic toy to create what you see here. I’m sorry, I have no maturity 💩💩😹😹

Spree tickets are only $20 for a chance to walk away with good art, or get stuck with something like this 💩😹😹 — it’s up to the random draw. It’s to support so everyone wins 😻🎉

Just updated the Notso Kitty website with a few sets of kickers in new patterns for Spring 🎉🌱🌷🌱🌷🎉 My website got a little neglected last month after I had a spat with the Shopify people about changing my business name and they blocked my payment transfers for 4 weeks— so fun owning a small business! After a few weeks of waiting for them to assign an actual human to look at my case, I’m finally back in business 🤪🤪 I never shut down my website even when I wasn’t being paid, but I’m much more motivated to update it again now that I don’t have to worry about a giant corporation keeping my money indefinitely 🙃 Oh and there’s a new trashy raccoon kicker pattern too— things are looking much better meow 👀😹

A little early for St Catrick’s Day, but right on time if you need to get new green-themed kickers for kitty 🎉💚🎉💚 There are a limited quantity of these sets available online on Notsokitty.com. Those near Salem, MA can also find them in-person at where they are displayed next to cards by artist that accurately show my feelings towards the prolonged winter we’re having ❄️😾 Those in Chicago will have opportunity to get a set at next weekend’s .co event which I will be participating in as well🎉🍀 The price of the kicker sets went up from last year, but so did the kicker quantity so the sets are still a good deal 👍🏻🐱💚They typically sell out, so don’t sleep 💤 kitties 🐱🍀🎉
