FOUND DOG--UPDATE:

The owner called and confirmed it was his dog, so Odie went home with to his family this afternoon. Thank you all for your help!

Found yesterday afternoon on Hwy 69 near Texas Creek/Gulch Rd. Friendly male, has an orange collar without tags, and no microchip. Please call us at 719-539-2533 if this is your pup! Ark Ark-Valley Humane Society & Humane Society of Fremont County has been notified and may pick him up later this week if no one contacts us.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year’s!
We want to let our clients know that Dr. Ryff will be out of the office for continuing education the week of January 22nd through January 26th. We will not have a relief veterinarian in during this time, and won’t be scheduling surgeries or vet exams that week. We will be open for tech appointments such as vaccines without a vet exam, nail trims, a**l sac expressions, etc.
We recommend reaching out to the other local vet clinics during that week if your animal is in need of veterinary attention. Our clinic cat Prince was last seen Tuesday 12/19/23, and has not been seen around the clinic since.
He is about 4 years old, neutered male, 9 lbs, and medium hair black and white tuxedo with yellow-green eyes. He has paralyzed vocal cords so he cannot meow.

Do you live in Chaffee County and need financial assistance to get your cat or dog fixed? AVHS can help with that! We offer spay/neuter assistance to owned cats, feral cats (through our TNR program) and pit bull/pit bull mixes.

We now also offer assistance to low income individuals with a dog of any breed. Find out more and apply at https://www.ark-valley.org/services/spay-neuter-programs/ . After receiving your application our Outreach Manager, Emy, will follow up with a few questions, so keep an eye on your email. Then she will create an orange coupon that you will receive in the mail- your ticket to a low or no-cost spay or neuter!

Thank you to Colorado Pet Overpopulation Fund for helping fund these important spay/neuter programs in Colorado! They provided AVHS with $3,500 last year, all of which went towards helping getting more cats and dogs in Chaffee County fixed!

Update: he just got adopted out!

This kitten just got dropped off here in poor condition. Unsure of age or s*x. If anyone is missing a kitten please contact us. The plan is to send the kitten with ark valley humane society tomorrow if it is not claimed by this evening.

Update on wifi and phone calls:

We will be getting wifi back on Friday. Unfortunately we will be having issues with our phone system until Friday. With our new phone system, Weave, we are able to text through that System. We will figure out how to do a mass text through Weave so anyone who needs to get in contact us can contact us through text.

We are very sorry about this inconvenience and hopefully this hasn’t caused people too much trouble.

We have our new phone system fully installed and no longer are restricted to one line! Thank you for bearing with us during the transfer. And please continue to bear with us as we settle into using the newer system. We now have the ability to text from the office phone, which will be how we will eventually send out reminders for vaccines unless you choose to opt out.

Dr. Ryff will be out of town from July 20 through August 1st. We will not have another veterinarian in during this time. We will be open for normal business hours for medication & food pick-up, and technician visits such as nail trims, vaccines without an exam, suture removals, etc., but we will not be able to take in emergencies or surgeries. We will be referring out to the surrounding vet clinics in the event any of our patients need to be seen.
Appointments will resume August 2nd, but we will not schedule surgeries besides spays and neuters that day.

Update: Owner came and picked up

***Found Dog Alert***

Very friendly black and white female pit-bull/cattle dog, husky, or aussie mix, ~50lbs. Likely not spayed, about 1-2yrs old. No microchip.
Found near the McDonald's in Salida wearing a tight green slip-lead leash that looks cut/chewed through and a red collar with a 2022 Rabies tag from our clinic, but the number is linked to the incorrect owner.

If this is your pet or you know who she belongs to, please call us at (719) 539-2533. We are closed until 9AM tomorrow morning, so please leave us a voicemail or come in tomorrow so we can get her reunited with her family! Thank you.

We have hired a new receptionist!

Our hours are remaining the same listed on this page until further notice, with no veterinarian in the office on Wednesdays as he is out doing large animal calls, but the clinic is still open for medication pick-ups, suture removals, nail trims, vaccines without exams, etc.

We are short-staffed at the moment and do not have a full-time receptionist. If you have been trying to get in contact with us, please leave a detailed voicemail if we don't answer or email, and we will try to get back to you as soon as we can. That is also why our hours have been adjusted. The website found by Googling our clinic needs to be adjusted; the hours and days open on it are incorrect. The correct hours are listed on this page--9:00AM-12:00PM, 1:30PM-5:00PM Mon thru Fri. Wednesdays Dr. Ryff is out for house/ranch calls, so we don't do surgeries or vet exams in-clinic that day but do see tech visits such as vaccinations, adequan injections, nail trims, etc. We do not monitor this page regularly, so please do not reach out to us by Facebook Messenger; email us, or call and leave a detailed voicemail if we don't answer instead. We are working on returning voicemails.

Hello everybody and Happy Holidays! Dr. Ryff will be out of town December 17th - December 28th meaning he will be back in office on the 29th. If your furry friends are having a medical emergency during that time we will not have a relief vet in office, so we recommend reaching out to our other awesome local vets! If you need information on where to take your pets during this time please call and we will be more than happy to assist!

We will be open during normal business hours while Dr. Ryff is out to assist with vet technician appointments, refilling prescriptions, and prescription diets, and any scheduling needs. We will be closed on December 26th Monday to allow us to spend some more quality time at Christmas with our own family and furry friends!
