After staying cozy in their warm barn during some really chilly days, our Addax couldn't wait to stretch their legs! 🏃♂️💨
Watch as they celebrate the wide-open spaces with some epic zoomies!
While it may still be cold out, there's plenty to explore at Rolling Hills Zoo this weekend! Stay warm while discovering our incredible Wildlife Museum, Hideaway Hollow, and Elephant's Trunk Gift Shop.
🎥: Big "thanks" to RHZ Keeper Andi Dry for capturing these bursts of joy!

Kengele, our curious white rhino, got a frosty surprise for his daily enrichment - a mound of snow! After a thorough sniff and a little push test (gotta make sure it’s up to rhino standards 🧐), he couldn’t resist moving on to one of his favorite play things - a tire!
Kengele loves to show off by placing the tire on his horn, and honestly, it’s adorable. Don’t miss the silly snapshot of Kengele with his horn-tire combo, which will be posted on our Instagram!
📸: Huge thanks to Keeper Kennedy Mick for capturing this fun moment!

🌨️ Snow?! No way! ....Or… Maybe?
Our lemurs were a little skeptical about this frosty surprise at first, but snacks have a way of changing minds! After some cautious sniffing and a few brave steps, they decided this snow stuff wasn’t so bad after all.
Enrichment activities like this are a fun way to keep our lemurs engaged and curious - even when they're stuck inside due to the winter weather! ❄️
📹: Huge thanks to Keeper Kyndal Mignery for bringing the winter fun indoors for our black-and-white, fuzzy friends!

❄️ Snow much fun! ❄️ Watch Freya, Valkyrie, and little Axel, our Highland cows, living their best lives in this winter wonderland! These fluffy, cold-weather champs are built for days like this, and it’s clear they’re loving every second. 🐮💨
Don’t miss Valkyrie’s excited dash toward the camera—she’s truly a snow queen! And how adorable is baby Axel making his way through the snow?
📹: Special thanks to RHZ Keeper Cody Miller for capturing these fluffy frolickers for all of us to fawn over!

We may be closed, but we can still share some fun things with you! 🤩🥳
Last week, we celebrated Evey’s 18th birthday! 🦏 Born on December 31st, Evey, our female white rhino, got her name because she’s our special New Year’s Eve baby!
This year, she enjoyed knocking down a stack of decorated boxes (her favorite!), munching on birthday "cakes" made from grain, bananas, apples, and sweet potatoes, and soaking up all the love, attention, and scratches she could ask for.
A huge thank you to Keeper Kennedy Mick for the amazing videos and for making her cakes, and to Kyndal Mignery for helping decorate Evey’s festive birthday boxes! 🎂🎁

Last week, some of our primates had an extra special day opening their gifts, and we’re excited to share it with you!
In this video, you’ll see Akela, one of our colobus monkeys, exploring his Christmas-themed enrichment box with curiosity and flair. Plus, you'll see some fun photos of our ring-tailed and black-and-white ruffed lemurs investigating their own Christmas enrichment boxes!
These enrichment activities are all about engaging their playful, inquisitive natures and providing mental and physical stimulation.
🎥 Thank you to RHZ Keepers DJ Herren and Kyndal Mignery for capturing these delightful moments and making the day extra special for our animals!
📅 Don’t forget to visit before (or after) New Year’s Day to experience more wildlife wonder! Just a friendly remidner, we're closed January 1st.

We couldn’t wait to share these adorable highlights from last week! Freya, Val, and baby Axel, our Highland cows, along with our elegant Addax, had a blast investigating and nibbling on their festive reindeer log enrichment created by our amazing Keepers.
Enrichment like this is designed to encourage natural behaviors and provide variety in their daily routines, and it’s clear these were a hit!
🎥: Shoutout to Keepers Cody Miller and Kennedy Mick for capturing these wonderful moments on video and helping us share them with you!
📅 Be sure to stop by before New Year's Day to create some memories of your own at the zoo - We're closed January 1st, but will be ready to welcome you back on the 2nd!

We couldn’t resist sharing these heartwarming highlights from last week - and guess what? We have a few more posts in store for you!
A few of our big cats had a blast with their holiday enrichment, and our amazing Keepers, Andi Dry & Kira Noda, captured some amazing moments to share with you!
In this video, watch Sherman, our snow leopard, investigating his reindeer log and "unboxing" a special enrichment gift filled with tasty surprises. You’ll also see Oskar, Zalika, and Kamali, our lion trio, having fun with their own reindeer logs - watch 'til the end to see Oskar take down a reindeer.
Enrichment activities like these are all about engaging their natural instincts and keeping their minds and bodies active. We hope you enjoy seeing these moments as much as we enjoyed creating them for our animals.
📅 Be sure to visit us before New Year's Day, or on Thursday, January 2nd - we'll be closed New Year's Day!
🎥: Thanks to Keeper Andi Dry for these videos and to Kira Noda for Sherman's unboxing photos.

Part 3 - Kengele took a little taste test, and then decided he is pretty tasty!
Part 2 - Evey got excited to scoot her little friend around! Kengele was like "wut this?" at first...but he ended up loving it!
Evey Part 1 - Yes, Evey, that is a gift especially for you! She's a rootin' tootin' reindeer scootin' gal!
🎄🦏 Evey and Kengele are enjoying some holiday cheer with their special Christmas enrichment gifts! 🎁 Evey couldn’t get enough of her wooden reindeer, scooting it around, while Kengele found his wooden rhino perfect for a good scratch and nibble! 😄
At Rolling Hills Zoo, daily enrichment is essential for keeping our animals healthy, happy, and mentally stimulated. A BIG jolly thank you to RHZ Keepers Andi Dry and Kennedy Mick for capturing these fun moments!
