Misconduct at the dog show: what to do. AKC defines misconduct as any conduct that would cause a family with children, who were visiting the show for the first time, to decide that dog shows are a bad thing and they don't ever want to get involved in dog sports because of that. That's a wide range of behaviors, but the behaviors for which people are most commonly disciplined by AKC include foul language, displays of poor sportsmanship, and mistreatment of a dog. We are required to take action in cases of dog aggression, whether it's dog-on-dog or dog-on-human. Making a snarky post on facebook, or whispering about it to the person sitting next to you, does nothing to give consequences to the person who is acting out. If you witness an event that you truly believe is a case of exhibitor misconduct, that must be reported in writing to the show chairman. If that doesn't happen, AKC cannot institute disciplinary procedures against that person. If it is a case of judge misconduct, that is reported to the AKC rep. But exhibitor misconduct is reported to the show chairman. You would go to the club desk and ask for the show chairman. Hopefully, there will be no need for those reports at our show, but like other aspects of society, it seems there are more out-of-control people at the dog shows now than there were in the past.

The Cluster has a standing rule for all Show Chairs and Cluster Coordinators:
1. Show Chairs must present the day of their Show/Shows!
2. No Show Chair or judges Selection Coordinator can show their dogs on their day/days! If they want their dogs shown in Conformation or Obedience they must have someone else them!
3. Presidents are expected to help with both set and tear down. We would ask they be present all show days unless they are truly ill!

Please don't get anyone an unexpected puppy or kitten for Xmas, and remind your family....

Getting a dog is a serious commitment. Here are some things to consider to make sure you're ready and capable to care for a dog.

It’s that time of year again!! The sweet corn is ready and delicious but remember….throw the cob in the trash when you are done. Try not to let them chew or play with cobs off of your plate or while running in the fields. Almost every year, like clockwork, we have a sick pet that will have a corn cob blockage. This cob piece tried and tried to go through but got stuck. The dog was unable to pass any food through the intenstines and it turned dangerous. We are happy to say all is well because his vigilant owners brought him in right away and we acted immediately. Dr. Moeller successfully removed it from the intestines. Accidents happen. We just wanted to share and bring awareness. Have a great rest of your summer everyone!!
