- On Thursday, Detectives arrested an animal trainer and his girlfriend after ten dogs in his care died.

On June 18, 2025, at about 5:25 PM, the Irvine Police Department (IPD) was contacted by a pet owner who reported that they had received a message from their dog trainer saying that their dog had died in their sleep and had been cremated. Our Animal Services
Unit and patrol officers immediately began investigating the circumstances. In the initial stages of the investigation, it was determined that at least ten dogs had died in the trainer's care. IPD quickly recovered multiple dogs at different crematoriums.

We are working closely with veterinary professionals who will perform necropsies to determine how the dogs died. Our priority is determining if the death of the dogs was accidental or intentional. Based on suspicious activity after the incident, including the
attempted cremation of the dogs, Detectives arrested Kwong (Tony) Chun Sit, 53, of Irvine, for animal cruelty and destruction of evidence last night. Sit’s girlfriend, Tingfeng Liu, 23 of Vista, was arrested for the same charges. Both were booked at Orange County
Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and Detectives continue to gather evidence and information.

Detectives believe Sit worked with pet owners across Southern California, under different company names, including “Happy K9 Academy.” If you have been notified of your dog's sudden passing while in the care of Mr. Sit or have any information related to this case, please contact [email protected].

The English Springer Spaniel is a sweet-faced, lovable bird dog of great energy, stamina, and brains. Springers are highly trainable people-pleasers. They are eager to join in any family activity. Long walks, games of chase and fetch, and swimming are favorite pastimes of these rugged spaniels.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the English Springer Spaniel Field Trial Association, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA or PennHIP)
- Elbow Dysplasia
- ACVO Eye Exam
- crd4/cord1 PRA DNA Test
- DNA Repository (University of Missouri or OFA)
Optional but recommended:
- Fucosidosis
- PFK
- Degenerative Myelopathy
- Autoimmune Thyroiditis
- Cardiac (Basic, congenital, or advanced via a cardiologist)

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.

Tucked quietly along a street in Barcelona, there stands a sculpture that stops people in their tracks.

It’s called The Abandoned Dog, created by Catalan artist Artur Aldomà Puig.
No pedestal. No glory. Just a dog—sculpted in stone, sitting alone, waiting.

Its eyes are what pull you in.
Wide. Hopeful. Full of quiet sorrow.
It’s not just a statue—it’s a message.

This sculpture is a tribute to every dog who gave their love, only to be left behind. It speaks for the voiceless. The loyal. The forgotten.

Next to the figure is a poem by the artist himself, etched in metal.
It reads:

“Your race doesn’t matter.
Your name doesn’t matter.
You came into the world
to be my friend.”

It’s not just about dogs. It’s about what we owe to love—the love that comes without judgment, without condition, without limit.

Locals leave flowers by its paws. Children stop to pet it. Visitors kneel to take photos and wipe away tears. It has become a place of memory, and mourning, and quiet promises.

A reminder that loyalty like this should never go unnoticed.

Artur Aldomà Puig didn’t just sculpt a dog.
He sculpted a responsibility

Let’s play a little game this morning… Every day as you leave work late at night you walk down an alley because it’s faster it’s convenient and you can get to your car, every day you walk down that alley somebody pops out behind a trashbin and shoves a gun in your face and tells you give me all your money. Now I understand walking down that way as faster for you to get to your car but obviously much more dangerous. Why do you keep doing it? Turn it around now, every day you walk your dog down a particular street and every day, dogs run up to the fence, growl, snarl, and your dog responses… Why do you keep doing it? You remember the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

This is gonna be a long post… So we’re walking at the mall we’re having a good time. Couple of us both have our dogs with us. Our dogs are being good. A gal comes out of Starbucks with her Pomeranian on a retractable leash with his service vest she’s on her phone little dog is peeing everywhere. She has no concept of what’s going on around her. She stands in a walkway. The leash is probably a good 8 to 10 feet out across the walkway where people can’t see it. Totally oblivious to people walking on the walkway could care less. It’s all about her. She starts walking behind us where we’re sitting and her dog is still at the end of that leash and I said rather loudly do you want to get your dog under control and retract your leash and all she did was give me the biggest grin and kept walking Sure enough around the pillar they come and her dog goes for one of our dogs. Somebody explain this to me! I’m tired of these $99 service vest and dogs that are out of control. It ruins it for people who need a service dog and I’m so glad it came up on the other side with the smaller of our two dogs had Whisky stood up. I’m sure the gal would’ve pi**ed her pants which would’ve made me happy. But of course, then it would’ve been Whisky’s fault. I will not go as far as to say it was not a service dog, but I will say it was an inappropriate service dog. Effing people!!!
