We have had many questions about our new doodle policy and what led to it. This explains it very well, it is from another groomer across the country and we couldn't have said it better ourselves.

Let me explain something to you from a groomers standpoint about the doodle craze. We’re tired. Our bodies are tired. Our emotions are tired. Our patience is shot. These dogs and their owners are killing our industry.
Yes, there are AMAZING doodle owners with wonderfully trained dogs that we really love and enjoy. But for every one of those there are 9 more that are the opposite. I’ve cut down on my doodle clientele so I now only groom ones in the first category, well maintained, well behaved and on a regular schedule with owners who are excellent.
But every day I see so many of the others whether it be on social media or in person bashing groomers. There’s even entire Facebook groups devoted to groomers who are labeled as lazy or greedy or rude because they say/do what needs to be said/done in regards to handling these dogs.
We’re over it!! We tell an owner that their matted dog needs shaved? We’re labeled as uneducated and lazy. We shave a matted dog? We’re blasted on social media for being lazy because we wouldn’t ‘just brush it out’. We tell an owner that their dog was difficult to groom because it was jumping and pulling and breaking our tables or equipment? We’re labeled as doodle haters. We charge appropriately? We’re greedy and money hungry. We do what’s in the best interest of the dog and we’re crucified for it.
So many of the owners are more concerned about what their dog looks like that they ignore what their dog needs. They buy these crazy expensive dogs but then don’t take care of their coats and blame us for their neglect when we have to shave them. We’re over it!!
No other group of pet owners are so anti groomer. No other group of pet owners are so rude to us as an industry. No other group of pet owners has caused good groomers to leave the industry completely. I recently asked a question in several grooming groups about what was causing so many to leave our industry. The #1 answer was doodles.
Many groomers no longer do doodles at all because of the hate so many owner’s show towards us and the wear and tear on our bodies. These dogs are large. SO many of them are untrained and yank and pull and jerk and climb and jump around the entire time we work on them.
We can groom 5 small dogs in the time it takes to do one unmaintained wild doodle, but the owners won’t pay for that time. Based on my prices, one small dog is $60, so that doodle should be $300. If I tried to charge that I’d be screamed at. Cussed at. Threatened.
Thankfully the doodles I groom are all well behaved and well maintained because I don’t take ones that aren’t! I love my doodle owners because of that. My colleagues aren’t so lucky. And it kills me watching what they are going through on a daily basis.
Situations in these photos are not rare. We literally see them daily. These are the type of owners who then blast us on social media and call us lazy. These are well loved pets allowed to get into this condition. This is not ok. And it’s not the groomers fault. They are doing what your dogs need because you won’t.

Who is ready for a new love in their life? This little guy is named Rookie and he is definitely rookie of the year! Though no fault of his own (landlord changed mind on allowing dogs) he has to be re-homed and we are hoping we can help him find it. He is six months old, border collie/hound cross, very athletic, gets along with other dogs quite well, loves to play, also gets along with cats, is housebroken, very trainable, not a barker and wants to please all the time. We are hoping to keep him out of the shelter, please let me know if you or anyone you know might want a wonderful, loving new family member!
