There are a multitude of pathogens that cause respiratory disease in dogs. Veterinarians and diagnostic laboratories are working with state and federal agencies to identify a cause in recent cases.

We have gotten several questions about this over the past few days. Best thing we can do right now is be sure to keep our vaccines current and take precautions with travel! If you are unsure of vaccination status of your canine, check with your veterinarian to determine whether they need a DAPP booster!

Veterinarians are encouraged to call the Laboratory if they have any questions about sample collection, submission, or diagnostic options and contact MDARD if unusual or reportable illnesses are seen.

Enjoy this beautiful day, keep those fur babies cool and give them extra comfort through the evening of loud noises….there are a few medications that can help, but being close to them and allowing them to feel more secure wherever they like to be is crucial!

What a great few weeks we have had! Visiting patients and friends we’ve had for 6+ years and meeting several new patients and friends! So many adorable puppies, timid and not so timid dogs and sweet, curious kitties!!!

UPDATE ON AVAILABILITY!!!

We have made a decision to pause our home visits at this time. Based on weather unpredictability and the fact that we have continued to visit out doors since June 2020, I have decided that we will be in a “winter pause” until later in February 2022.
Our phone and e-mail are still available! If you need medication refills, we are here for that!

Heritage Animal Hospital has been very willing to help us with general/non-urgent visits for the time. They can be reached at 734-529-9177. Local veterinary clinics are always an option as well and your pets record can be sent along as needed!

We continue to recommend using local ER clinics for any urgent/emergency needs! Please contact them if you are unsure whether your pet is experiencing an emergency and they will advise!

My plan is to return (with more availability) in the spring and we will be looking forward to our visits when we can manage them outside easier or bring them back inside as we used to do!
