Life happens! Ask SWEET Ava Grace😍😍. NEVER feel bad when you have to start with a new haircut! Hair tangles, ESPECIALLY the older it gets and more life it is exposed to. You NEED from time to time to start again. These babies are closer to the floor than us so their fur takes a beating🤣🤣. When tangles happen and it's time for a fresh start don't look at it like a failed project, look at it like new possibilities! Cute cuts grow in quick! NOW is the time if you do need to start over so that you can have cute Christmas pictures! SANTA IS WATCHING😍😍😍😍

I started my day a little earlier than usual today to work with a pup that reacts negatively to grooming. I wanted to take a minute here since it is fresh on my mind to make a post on reactivity, the emotions behind it and how to best deal with it. I chose 15 years ago to specialize in babies that show signs of being timid and agressive and are stressed during the grooming process because I saw them given up on to frequently and going home half finished with frustrated parents who love them and want the best for them. I didn't believe then and I don't believe now that these pups are "BAD" or "Mean", they are living creatures with feelings and a soul that deserves love, and they need grooming for their health and wellbeing. Just like people they don't like not having control and respond to those situations in ways that work to give them their control back. Sometimes they react because of fear or pain from undiagnosed issues. Biting, thrashing around, scratching and even peeing are not every day actions they are REACTIONS to the situation. The only way to overcome this is consistent exposure, observation and an approach that begins with compassion. It is my obligation as the groomer to always advocate for the care that is best for the pups and to speak for them in times that call for understanding. Sometimes that means taking an approach that is focused on desensitization, and making a plan that is centered on consistency and exposure. Dogs do not deserve to be unhappy or scared during grooming and they do not have to be. You CAN teach an old dog new tricks with a spirit of love. If what I have just described sounds like your pup I want you to know there IS HELP! I care about your pup AND your relationship with that baby, and even if sometimes I have to spill a little blood I will hang in with you until the issue is resolved. I am thankful for you and appreciate the ability you give me to offer my service EVEN IF I have to ask for a bandaid 🤣🤣. Happy Memorial Day and please be safe out there this weekend!

Working with Animals has truly touched all the aspects of my life! One of the first things I learned when I started grooming was that those furry little souls can feel your emotion. If you approach them with turmoil, if you speak to them unkind, and ESPECIALLY if you try to rush them because of your anxiety you put yourself at a disadvantage and make those babies uncomfortable. They crave the same positive emotions we do as humans, things like LOVE, PEACE and HARMONY. I have learned that when you LOOK for opportunities to find those emotions, even when they conflict with what you FEEL, they are ALWAYS PRESENT! Case in point is the flat tire I got this morning and how I CHOOSE to react to it. I am ALWAYS a few minutes on either side of on time because of the mobile nature of our business and that can be frustratingly easy to turn into much more than minutes when things arise. If I show up to my next appointment late and try to zip through the job angry and rushed because I am behind, those emotions can and will influence not just me but the baby who has nothing to do with my problems. Instead if in that moment when an obstacle arises I look for the positive and I keep that aspect centered and focused I avoid negativity and have the ability to share positivity (not just with the pupperz but with you parents too).
When the alarms on my car started flashing and beeping this morning letting me know that I had a flat tire I had to see more than inconvenience, that is when I noticed that RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET was a tire place and that was a HUGE BLESSING! I may be a little behind but I DIDNT have to pay for or wait on a tow truck or walk who knows how far! In a World that is too often overpopulated with negativity you CAN CHOOSE HOPE! You can choose JOY KINDNESS and LOVE knowing that every time you do so that there is a good chance that it is JUST AS CONTAGIOUS. I will get off of my soap box now because my tire is done but know this, I hope that every one of you will find yourself feeling blessed. I hope that you see the joy feel the sunshine and find somehow to PASS IT ON! I appreciate you and I know that your sweet kiddos do too!

Sweet Mr. Sampson was the most well behaved client of the day!! My little buddy was suffering from yeast on his skin, a common ailment that is pretty easily addressed. All it took was just a little patience while he soaked in a medicated bath and the antifungal properties of the shampoo went to work! Afterwards his dancing around proved he not only felt better but knew EXACTLY how handsome he was!! A big THANK YOU to Sampson and his sweet Mom Teresa!!😍😍😍
