is a proactive, 501c3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to bring our community together in order to help our homeless animals at the Rowan County Animal Shelter and the Rowan County community. Although we are not affiliated with the Rowan County Government, Shelter Guardians, Inc. works closely with the staff of the Rowan County Animal Shelter to identify and provide the animals needs. We h

ave total control of where your donations to the animals end up. Our Mission Statement:

The mission of Shelter Guardians is to provide volunteers and support for the homeless animals at the Rowan County Shelter, and in the community. Through our programs we facilitate shelter adoptions and assist in decreasing the number of animals returned and surrendered to the shelter. Our programs also educate children and youth about humane treatment of all companion animals, and the need for spay and neuter. Our purpose is to reduce the number of animals in need of a home, both at the shelter and in our community, by highlighting the contribution that companion animals can make to a person’s life when they are given a chance.

❤️❤️❤️We had a Have A Heart event at the Rowan Shelter today. 10 dogs were tested today for heart worms! Out of the 10 tested, one was positive and was treated on the spot!!

🩷💕Shelter Guardians & Rowan Animal clinic partnered again today to host another heartworm testing event. Out of 10 dogs, 2 tested positive for heartworms. Rufus & Zayda was treated today with a Pro Heart 12 shot! When the positive dogs are adopted a script for Doxycycline will be given to the new owners for the continued treatment for the Heartworms. 💕🩷

Thank you so much to the people who donated that made this happen!!!!!! This truly has help these dogs get adopted and together we can make a huge difference for the animals at the Rowan County Animal Shelter!!!!

It was matched by Mrs. Sparger, then matched again by an anonymous donor!! Their donation ended up being $600!!! We are so proud of these kids and their teachers. Children who have empathy for homeless animals give us great hope for the future.

For the past few months all the work on the building has been mostly underground. Although crews have been working hard it was difficult to see any progress unless you knew what to look for. Well today that changes. We are starting to pour the stone for the concrete floor. From there the work will move faster! WOOHOO…. We are getting super excited now!!!
