Not everyone is cut out to have a dog—let alone any pet. And an even smaller number are truly prepared to handle the responsibility of owning a large, powerful breed.
With a Cane Corso, training, mutual trust, and love aren’t optional—they’re essential. Have I been bitten? Yes, I have—but never by one I raised or kept in my home. The trust I now have with my dogs wasn’t always there. After being bitten in the face by an untrained Corso, it took time for me to regain my confidence—even with my own Cane Corso.
But now, the bond speaks for itself. You can see that they come to me for protection and comfort—and I seek the same from them. Pappy is especially unique when it comes to personal space. Simply put, he doesn’t believe in it—and I’m perfectly fine with that. He’s never scared me. The closest he comes is resting his big, flappy jaws on my face, wanting to be even closer. Apparently today my face needed aome moisturizer 😂. Sometimes he’ll give a little nip-kiss on the chin, which is just his way of showing affection. Other times, he’ll go all out and lick your whole face.
Is this breed for everyone? Absolutely not. In fact, I’d say most people would be better suited with a less demanding breed. Cane Corsos require a great deal of attention, space, proper nutrition, and consistent training. But if you’re up for the challenge, the bond you build is unlike anything else.
