Please remember with high heat temperatures there is always the possibility of heatstroke. Cats and dogs should be on a brief outside schedule, especially these next few days! Signs to look out for are, unsteady on feet, drooling, rapid panting or breathing, lethargy and a hot to the touch body. If you think your animal is experiencing heatstroke, we have a few tips that could be critical for safety. It's important to get your pet into the shower and start cooling the entire body off with ROOM TEMP water. Cold to freezing water can shock their body, make sure it's warm or lukewarm. If you can't lift, wet a towel and lay it on them. If water isn't an option, getting your animal to a cool area of a house/building with a fan, even an AC'd car would do. Call your vet, or an emergency hospital and let them know the situation. Your dog should be seen no matter what. Hospitals should be able to supply oxygen, fluids and other medication to help stabilize your pet.
Everyone stay cool and be mindful of their pets in this heat.
