While many cats enjoy the heat, if they cannot escape it to cool off, they can experience heat illness in a short time. A cat that is panting due to heat can be in extreme distress! Steps should be taken to cool them off immediately + contact your veterinarian.

While it is possible to lower your pets body temperature too low, you should not hesitate to use every tool you have to get your pet cooled off! If your pet is showing signs of heat stroke (hyperthermia) such as:

Uncontrollable panting
Bright red gums
Agitation/restlessness
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Seizure
Collapse

Take immediate steps to cool them down and contact your vet ASAP!
