🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Betty! 🌟

Meet Betty, our April Volunteer of the Month!

Betty's dedication to our mission is truly inspiring—she loves helping pet parents in need and making sure their furry friends are cared for.

Her favorite part of volunteering? Pet pantry days! No matter the weather, Betty is there, helping families get the pet food they need while sharing smiles (and maybe some belly rubs).

Fun fact: Betty has been a dog lover her whole life and even won first place with her German Shepherd in an AKC Obedience Trial when she was just 10 years old!

Lulu came to Ruff Haven through our free grooming program, but this spicy little furball couldn’t be safely groomed due to her fear of strangers and handling sensitivity. Her owner, unable to afford sedation grooming through a vet, had been struggling to get her the care she needed.

After working with our vet team, we found a solution—an in-house sedation and shave down. This is what success looks like! Many dogs react out of pain, especially when severely matted.

This is why our programs matter. Lulu stayed with her family, avoided shelter surrender, and got the care she desperately needed. She loves her people—and they love her right back. 🐾💚

We are excited to share our 2024 Annual Impact Statement, showcasing Ruff Haven's incredible accomplishments and growth over the past year.

Thanks to the unwavering support of our community and our collective commitment to helping pet owners across the state, we have been able to assist more beloved pets than ever before while continuing our vital advocacy in the human welfare space.

In 2024 alone, we provided 18,624 nights of safety to pets in crisis and distributed 34,394 meals through our Pet Pantry, ensuring families could keep their beloved companions fed and cared for. It is an honor to do this work and serve so many amazing people and their pets. 💚

We want to give a huge thank you to MedVet Salt Lake City for being an incredible community partner. They support our Compassionate Euthanasia program and consistently provide top-notch care.

As a 24/7 facility, they don’t require appointments and make euthanasia a priority so pets and their people don’t have to wait during such a difficult time. They also offer some of the most affordable pricing we’ve seen—just $250 for euthanasia, group cremation, and a paw print keepsake.

We’re so grateful for their compassion and the support they offer to pet owners during one of life’s hardest moments.

We had an amazing time at last week’s Salt Lake City resource fair, where we got to introduce Ruffy to Ruffy! Dog Ruffy received free vaccines and a microchip, making sure he stays healthy and up to date with licensing and housing policies. This helps keep him with his dad and prevents surrender to a shelter. Double the Ruffy, double the fun! 💚
