Rest in peace, Duke πŸ’™πŸΎπŸŒˆ

From his family:
Duke where do I even start? We got you when our hearts were hurting not being able to have kids and going through fertility treatments. You got us through some tough times and were always there to brighten our day with your big smile, kisses and always wanting to play ball. And then you became the best big brother when we had our babies and you were so good with them even with all the bugging you got from them.

I hope you are in heaven chasing a ball and running around pain free. I will miss your cuddles, hearing your bark, those big eyes that always looked at me with such love. And also your fur, as much as I hated it I miss seeing your hair all around our house. We all miss you so much and in words of my daughter β€œdukeys in heaven with Jesus mommy” love you buddy🀍

Also Thank you to homeward bound for coming to our home to create a peaceful environment for Duke to cross the rainbow bridge. He was terrified of the vet so it was the best gift we could give him to have it peaceful at home. Until we see you again Duke.

Rest in peace, Cruz β€πŸΎπŸ’™πŸŒˆ

Cruz is a Standard Poodle that entered this world in January 2021. Anyone who knows him knows that he is anything but β€œstandard” however. He was my coworker, best friend, passenger and co-pilot, our welcoming committee, our protector, my source of comedy, bathroom lurker, garbage can inspector, TV critic (mostly about dogs) and much more. Most important of all however, he was a source of unconditional love and comfort, and a loyal and trustworthy companion to me.

I’ll forever walk in the door from a business trip and resent the fact that I won’t be able to see him one more time, grinning teeth showing ear to ear, tail wagging, excited that I was finally home. I’ll miss his smell (that my wife said smells like carpet) and the sometimes not so gentle touch of his paw as he swatted me in the face to ask for more scratches - with a moan added for emphasis. I’ll enter the bathroom and shut the door, and wait for it to immediately fly open and see him lay at my feet, only to be let down instead by the privacy and solitude I always joked that I wanted in that place. No, there will never be another like Cruz. All we have left are the memories and these photos of him to try to impress upon everyone how special he was to all who know him, but especially to me. I hope everyone gets to experience the love of a dog like Cruz at some point in this earthly existence.

Saturday June 8th, Homeward Bound visited our home, and assisted him across the rainbow 🌈 bridge, to a place where his tail will always wag, and the treats are endless. I want to say farewell to my friend, and I hope he finds solace playing in fields of grass chasing birds off the fence - until we meet again.

Rest in peace, Jaeger πŸ’™πŸΎπŸŒˆ

From his family:
Three months before our now 13 year old daughter was born, we welcomed Jaeger into our family. People thought we were crazy, but it was the best decision we ever made. Jaeger helped raise our two kids, always watching over them and enduring their antics. He was their constant companions, following them everywhere. Our children, 2 dogs and cat have never known life without him, and now there's a huge hole in our hearts and our family. We love you, Jaeger-Dog. We'll see you at the lake, catching crawdads, eating cheeseburgers, and swimming after the geese. πŸ’“

Rest in peace, Nyx πŸ’™πŸŒˆπŸ’”πŸΎπŸ«ΆπŸˆβ€β¬›

From his family:
He was 13 years old, Nyx was a New York Cat and he moved from New York to Utah with his Dad, they drove all the way here together.
to become a happy fur family with a Utah Girl and two other girl cats. Nyx loved to play and cuddle, he was very sweet even when his sisters were not.
His favorite were naps on his dads chest and meal times. He loved to sit behind my husband at meals with his tongue sticking out hoping for a bite
of our dinner, and he would pounce on my husband's back in bed in the morning to let him know it was time for breakfast. It's hard to not see him sitting
behind my husband now at dinner time and not there making biscuits on the bedat night, but we will cherish the time we had with him and will never forget him.

Rest in peace, Dexter πŸ’™πŸŒˆ Grateful to his wonderful owners for the kind words:

I found the first of many lumps on our cat Dexter back in November 2021. He had a few surgeries to remove the mast cell tumors in the subsequent 2.5 years, but a few weeks ago we found both of his hind legs had open wounds. Dexter has always been resilient and enduring, but unfortunately he wasn't going to be able to bounce back from these recent wounds.

We had Katherine from Homeward Bound Vet come to our home to say goodbye to our beloved Dexter. Considering the circumstances, he had a really good last day with us. He was still in good enough condition that he was purring on my lap the last couple of hours of his life. I'm glad we didn't drag things out until they were much worse. It was heartbreaking to say goodbye, but it was the best possible final day we could have given him.

After Katherine arrived at our home, we fed Dexter a few treats and gave him a sedative to make him fall asleep. He ended up falling asleep on my lap, still gently purring and relaxed. I think he must have felt safe and in good spirits right up until the end. After she gave him the sedative, she gave him his final dose of medication and we said goodbye to Dexter.

If anyone finds themselves in a similar situation, I highly recommend doing this at home instead of at a vet, because their final moments will be much more comforting at home instead of in a strange, unfamiliar place. I would have been more upset if his final moments were filled with an unwanted car ride to the vet, creating stress and anxiety. At home, he was happy and comfortable. Katherine was great throughout the entire process and made things as good as they possibly could have been, given the circumstances.

From her wonderful owner:

It’s with a breaking heart that I report the passing of my sweet dog,Sierra. She lived over 14 years as a privileged, beloved and spoiled dog. I got her from a rescue when she was 4, after explaining I wanted a little dog who could hike and camp but could also lay around in the sunshine doing nothing. She arrived at Pet Smart hanging out the window, independent in the passenger seat. She was friendly but aloof and I knew we were a perfect match. Of course I had the expectation that she liked other dogs but by our 1st walk at Sugarhouse Park, I knew that was not true. We made some adjustments to our social outings but she still went plenty of places with me. I just had to pick her up if she was acting up with other dogs. Good thing she weighed just over 11 pounds. These last 10 years have been filled with her companionship and snuggles and I’m a better person because of her. She taught me love.

I first took Sierra golfing at Wingpointe with permission from the pro. She loved it but occasionally tried to run after the geese to no avail. She barked and would have attacked off leash, at neighbor dogs walking near the courses. Otherwise she mostly sat quietly and enjoyed the breezes through the golf cart. She played most of the city courses and I’m grateful for all the rounds she was with me. At the 19th Hole, at my friend Alan’s house, Sierra loved roaming his yard, hiding her bones under the bushes only to retrieve them on a return trip.

We camped in the Uintas and the San Rafael Swell many times. We took hikes and hung by the campfire and she seemed content just to be next to me. She was a great road-tripper and could sleep for hours until the next stop. Our favorite thing was being together. My home and my life will be empty and I’ll miss her all my days. πŸΎπŸŒˆβ›³οΈ πŸ’œ

Rest in peace Honey πŸ’œ From her owner:

My sweet Honey, mama dog, Honey Buns. From the very moment I picked you up and held you at 12 weeks old I knew our souls were connected. You were the chubbiest one of the bunch! For 12 years I had you by my side. There was no doubt you were a mamas girl. Honey’s second love beside me was tennis balls and any lake she could get in too. She would swim for hours. In fact I bought a pool for the back yard that immediately became hers. She had a tail wag that would shake her whole body. Over the last few years she was sadly diagnosed with cancer and put through two really hard surgeries but it finally caught up to her and I had to make one of the hardest decisions in my life. Thankfully I could do this at home where Honey loved to be and with Katherine by our sides it was a very peaceful experience. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. Honey… I hope you are chasing every tennis ball and swimming in every lake! The house is quiet but once in a while I can feel you and still hear you. I hope you know that I know I was your favorite person and you are my best friend. I miss you terribly. Rest easy mama dog. Until we meet again πŸŒˆπŸ’•

Rest in peace, Izzy πŸ’œ From her family:

Isabella, miss Izzy, Bizz, Sweet B. I remember picking you up at 8 weeks old. You were the cutest schnauzer I had ever seen with your little eyebrows and beard. You were always a big talker and loved to howl and respond back with barks when I asked you how your day was. You would tap dance your little feet any time you were excited or when dinner time came around. You would growl whenever you were picked up. Not because you were actually upset but just to let us know we were disrupting whatever you were up to at the time. The years finally caught up to us and the time to fulfill my promise to do what was best for you until the end arrived. And all of the moments in between will be what gets me through the sadness of you physically leaving my side. Somehow 15 years wasn't enough. But the time we get never is. So for now I'll wait for the sadness to be replaced with happy memories. Say hi to the rest of the herd at the rainbow bridge. I'm sure they will be excited to see you again. I know I will be. Until then sweet B.

Rest in peace, Coco β€πŸΎπŸŒˆπŸ’œ From her family:

Two years ago at Christmastime, a sweet, but severely neglected Cocker Spaniel showed up on a rescue site. The minute I saw her, I knew we could love her. After a little convincing, my husband knew we could love her too.

We never knew exactly how old she was, but we committed to give her the best life for the rest of her life. She traveled with us, ate so many treats, slept on a comfy warm bed, met the love of her life (my husband), and was a part of our family.

After a tough six months of vet appointments, procedures, and medications, with Dr. Rist’s help we set her free. Fly high, Coco. All dogs really do go to heaven.

Rest peacefully Chloe πŸ’œ Thank you so much to her family for the kind words and adorable picture!

Chloe went home to Jesus after being our family member for almost 13 years. It came on suddenly and was aggressive. If we had let it decide when to take her it would have been an extremely horrible way to die.
A year ago her friend Kala went home to Jesus with the help of Homeward Bound Utah Vet. They send a very kind and patient vet to your home so that your loved one can leave surrounded by loved ones, calm and comfortable in their own homes. It was a very comforting thing to do.
We contacted Homeward Bound Utah Vet. They went out of their way to come immediately to our home. As I shared this with others, I was surprised that no one had ever heard of this service. It is the best choice I made during this entire stress filled time. Love you Chloe. Have fun with Kala. See you soon.

I had to part with my sweet boy due to a sudden condition forcing a heartbreaking decision to let him go, as much as I love him. Dr. Rist was responsive and supportive through this tender process, I am so grateful for her services. Her patience as we comforted my handsome boy in his final moments will be forever cherished. I will recommend Dr. Rist again and again. Thank you

Rest in peace, Stella πŸ’œ from her family:

On Saturday Jan 27th my sweet Hound Dog Stella crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Stella was found abandoned as puppy and one of my customers who rescued dogs told us about her and we ended up taking her. She was a character from day 1. She was always happy, wild and baying at any and everything. Burying every bone she could in the yard. I know I’ll be finding those forever. She definitely gave life her all and even though she had a rough last year she rarely complained and all she ever really wanted was her momma. I am happy she gets to be with her two big brothers who left her over the last couple years. I know it has to be an amazing reunion and the 3 stooges are together again. I can’t wait until I get to join that reunion! Our hearts are very empty here we will miss you forever. ❀️

Our sweet Kuma crossed the rainbow Bridge on November 13th.
She was the sweetest and most loving girl. Nothing could stop her from giving hugs and sprinting around the yard!
She made the nicest pillow for snuggles and gave the best kisses when you needed them most.
She will finally be able to be a mama to her 8 puppies that she lost years ago. We got 11 wonderful years with our fluffy girl. We will miss you forever mama bear! ❀️
