Our Purpose Statement

Serving our local and statewide communities, Utah Friends of Basset Hounds, Inc. Shelter and care for homeless basset hounds. Assistance, when needed, to anyone owning a basset hound so as to keep the dog in a good environment. Placement in suitable foster and permanent homes for all dogs taken into our care. Financial and emotional support, when needed, to our foster and ad

optive homes using the dogs' best interest as a guide. Fundraising events in order to care for all dogs taken in by our rescue. Education about spaying and neutering in order to decrease pet overpopulation and random breeding. Placement assistance to state and local animal shelters for basset hounds and mixed breeds.

Shirley (with blue eyes) and LaVerne are a bonded pair; pretty much sisters!

They were rescued while living on their own and trying to survive the wild coyotes that were attacking them. In spite of this horrible experience, both are loving and friendly with both people and other dogs.

LaVerne and Shirley will need to be adopted together. LaVerne has a health condition that can be treated and UFBH will cover cost of her treatment.

These are two very special girls who will bring much love and Basset-ness to any home they join. They’re playful and cuddly.

The primary foster home for Utah Friends of Basset Hounds is being forcibly downsized. There are circumstances beyond our control and we do understand this decision.

We are therefore in desperate need of both short and long term foster homes. We have adoptable hounds that will need foster homes until they are adopted and we have special needs hounds that will need more long term care, both physical and emotional. There are several adoption applicants in the works, but we need foster homes immediately!!

We do require a securely fenced yard 2. We DO adopt out of state; will not “ship”. Transportation can be worked out in most cases, with adopter’s help. 3. If you haven’t already, please go to our website and fill out our adoption or foster application. 4. We appreciate your patience with our adoption process. The practice is good for you…you’re going to need lots of patience to raise a Basset Hound. 5.
