I want to personally thank everyone on the crew of Wasatch Hunting Retriever Club. And Triumph Youth Services. These two teams combined make an army that could move mountains. You pulled off another one without a glitch. Fantastic work Ladies and Gentlemen. Sleep well tonight and enjoy the memories made.

Looks like some duck hunting weather is on our doorstep. The dogs don't care and neither do we. So, dress warm and come on out to the picnic tomorrow. Birds will fly no matter the conditions. We will have plenty of canopy's available if needed. And lunch will be hot.

This is a friendly reminder that our second picnic test (club training day) will be held this upcoming Saturday, March 2nd at the Lee Kay dog training grounds. Sign ups will start at 8 AM. Lunch will be available at this event, similar to our last event.

Again, please plan to bring cash or check as we will be unable to accept electronic payments at this event.

WHRC 2024 Election Results

WHRC Members (and past members),

WHRC Officer and Board Member elections were held on February 10th at the first club picnic training event. Thank you to everyone who came out to participate, vote, and renew your membership. We love seeing you each and every year and thank you for your continued support of our club.

There is a ton of work that happens behind the scenes and until you've served as an officer, it's impossible to know the blood, sweat, and tears that go into keeping this club not just up and running, but thriving. Brandon and Donna have given much of their time, talent, and ingenuity to improve our club over the years. If you see them, please extend a hearty thank you.

We'd also like to thank our outgoing Board members: Tom Ferraro, Ron Edwards, and Roxanne Lee. These three individuals have given selflessly of their time and worked tirelessly for our club. They exemplify dedication to our club, our sport, and encouraging those just getting started with AKC Hunt Tests. Thank you all for your service!

Thank you everyone who came out to our picnic. Great day with friends, family and dogs. Everyone pitched in and made it run smooth. Looking forward to doing it again March 2nd. Mark your calendars.

Here Ye, Here Ye.
Just a reminder this weekend we will be having our first event of the year. Picnic training day. Saturday February 10th. Signups start at 8am. $20 club membership, $25 for the flier duck. $10 for puppy pigeons. ( How we love Puppy pigeons) We will also have voting for club board and presidency. Lacie will be serving her special sloppy joes and chips for lunch. (included) So come on out run the dogs, get some ribbons and have some fun. Please bring a shotgun to help with the flier. Or run a bird station. If it's your first time no worries, we will help.

Annual Vote and Picnic Test Details

✅ Nominations are closed and we appreciate everyone who reached out to volunteer to help the club. Voting will take place at our first picnic test (club training day)

✅ Our first picnic test is this upcoming Saturday, February 10th. Sign ups will begin around 7:30 AM with a plan to start running dogs by 8:30 AM.

Membership: Membership applications and renewals will be available at this event. Membership is $20 for each adult individual. Youth handlers may receive complimentary membership.

Flyers: Flyers will be on a first come-first serve basis. Cost for flyers will be $25 for members, $35 for non-members. Dead birds only will be $10.

Puppies: Pigeons will be available for our youngest (and most adorable) participants for $10.

PLEASE NOTE: We will be unable to accept credit card or other electronic forms of payment at this event. Please come prepared with cash or check. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As always, it takes a village to make these events a success. Please come prepared to help with setup, throwing birds, marshaling, cleanup, etc.

The WHRC is seeking nominations for officers and board members for the next year. Annual voting will be conducted at our first picnic test on February 10th.

Our club is entirely run by volunteers and we continue to need your help to keep our club thriving for years to come.

With the New Year, comes a new season.

Our event calendar for 2024
Feb.10th, Picnic training day.
Mar. 2nd, Picnic training day.
Apr. 27-28 AKC hunting retriever test. 2 Junior, 2 Senior, 1Master.
May 24,25,26,27 Memorial weekend AKC hunting test.
2 Juniors, 2 Seniors, 2 Masters.
I will post up a complete grounds calendar once its finalized.

We will have club elections on the first picnic. If interested in becoming a club officer or board member get us your name so it can get on the ballot.

I'm looking for some volunteers to help fix up our duck pen. Pond cleaning, wind break repairs, net stretching ect. Thinking Saturday Jan,13th. The more help the quicker it will be done. Contact Lee for more info.

The latest report from LeeKay management on last year's tragedy with the dogs and reason for our cancellation of Memorial weekend hunt test. We're not grounds related. I attached their statement from our last meeting. We are good to go.

Let's keep training and get some new titles this year.

We would like to send our condolences to Donna Strasrypka and the Strasrypka family on the passing of our friend Al. Al has been a staple in the WRRC and will be missed by all.

Al was one of the earliest members of WRRC going back to the early 2000's. In 2005 when WRRC held our inaugural event Al was the event secretary, together him and Donna worked and volunteered at countless events. Al volunteered as a board member, committee member, judging assignments and virtually every opportunity there is, Al was there for us.

Al thank you for everything over the years, mostly thank you for being our friend and sharing Jake, Max, Tator and Ice with us. I am sure they all met you at the bridge.

We are sorry to report but the Memorial weekend test is CANCELED.. The state is doing water testing on the facility and it will take time to get results. We will work on the best way to get refunds out.
