Ringed teal, like other perching ducks, often roost in trees or other high areas overnight. This male is asleep in a tree while standing on one leg with his head tucked into his back feathers. Luckily for them, they have long, strong nails that help them grip on to trees to let them sleep this way.

The baby flamingos receive regular checkups to ensure they are growing and healthy. One chick wasn't standing as straight as expected, so our veterinarian staff reached out to Bark City Veterinary Specialists for a CT scan. We are grateful for our community to help us in providing the best possible care for the birds at Tracy Aviary. Both chicks are back at Tracy Aviary and are continuing to be hand reared behind-the-scenes. They are under a treatment plan to help strengthen their bones.
