Buoy met his new family, and what a beautiful and sweet family they were! They showed so much grace and patience, and are ready to help Buoy during his transition to his new home. We look forward to their updates! We will also be keeping Buoy’s previous family in our prayers.

And just like that - the legend, the founding dog of High Tide Standard Poodles, is retired. This pretty girl was the most nurturing and attentive momma. She’s looking forward to spending her time doing her favorite thing - fishing on the boat!

S E V E N * W E E K S

This week is always a bittersweet one. We’ve built a bond with each individual puppy. We know each of their little personalities and how to cater to each one and their needs/likes. While they love to play with their mom, they now strive for human attention more than anything. This is the week we get in all of our cuddles, and prepare them to go to their new homes.
Our house will become much more quiet, and other homes will add the sound of little pitter patter feet and puppy breath. We will see families who never thought they’d own a poodle fall head over heels in love, and families who’ve had the best kept secret of owning a poodle add another. These sleeping beauties will become someone’s best friend, someone’s sunshine on a cloudy day, someone’s foot warmer at the end of the bed, and protector. There is magic in owning a poodle. They are like no other.

These pups couldn’t care less about the vacuum! This is what we mean when we say “desensitized”. They know a vacuum is not scary, it will not hurt them, and they remain relaxed! Often times when puppies go to their new home they are a bit shy. It’s an unfamiliar family in an unfamiliar house. This is just one way we can help make an easy transition to their new homes, and not have to worry about unwanted reactive behavior. 🐾

Playtime outside! It got warm pretty quick for these guys. You can also see their hard work paying off! Look at these cuties sitting instead of jumping to get my attention! Pictures were hard to get because they circle all the way around you, but they’re doing a fantastic job. They can choose to run and play if they’d like, or, sit to get my attention (and a treat)!

Scrub - a - dub dub….we had 8 in the tub! All 8 babies got a bath today! They are now
6 ~ W E E K S ~ O L D!
They are all using their potty area about 98% of the time! They eat like champs and love new toys!
Bath time wore them out. A few of them must have thought I was too slow - they fell asleep in the tub!

🐾 F I V E * W E E K S * OLD 🐾
Week 4 was a busy one! We started our clicker training; a part of the puppy culture protocols. A puppy’s natural behavior is to jump to get attention. While it’s not a bad behavior (actually, a very normal behavior!) it’s not desirable to most. Each puppy is worked with individually, and conditioned to the clicker (meaning they know that the click sound = treat). We then take it a step further, and teach the puppy that to get attention - you sit! We do not add any verbal commands, because the human present is the command! We took puppies outside in groups of two today, and you can see our green and red collar puppies sitting to get attention! All 8 puppies are doing well with their clicker training.

Can you believe these guys are 4 weeks old now?! They have graduated to the weaning pen! They are starting to use the potty area, love to play, but still spend a good amount of time snoozing 💤
