About the Grant
The Dianne Johnson Legacy grant is for those junior and amateurs who exemplify hard work, dedication to the sport of equestrian, good sportsmanship, and leadership. The applicant must be a junior or amateur and has plans to show in the upcoming show season. Each term takes place from January 1st to December 31st. One junior and one amateur will be chosen as the recipient for each season.

Applicants must be WSHJA members and submit a written application and a letter of recommendation from an industry professional.

Oregon Trail was so fun with our small but mighty crew!!! Highlights include:
✨ Riley & Lady Henslee Champion in the Short Stirrup Hunters with an 86 in the classic & Reserve Champion in the Short Stirrup Equitation AND place 🥈 in their very first derby! So proud of this pair, placing first or second in every over fences class!!
✨ Michael & Hopscotch place 4th out of 10 on classic day in a very competitive .65 class AND Reserve Champion in the .70s!!! Way to go bud!
✨ Riley & Callaway take the show ring by storm, getting great ribbons in the Short Stirrup and placing 7th in the classic!!! First show ✅
✨ Sammie & Jannu had great rounds in the 1.20s & 1.30s, and finish the fastest 4 faulter in the $9.500 USHJA Level Two GP! So happy with this young horse’s progress

***RAISING FUNDS FOR LITTLE BIT THERAPEUTIC RIDING CENTER***

Plan now to pledge for “Jump for Little Bit” at the Evergreen Classic! In 2023, WSHJA added this special way to help support Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center.

It works very simply:
On Saturday, August 3, the Little Bit jump will be placed within the course in the Absolute Horse Jumper ring. For every horse who clears this fence throughout the day, your pledge multiplies. For example, if you pledge $1 per clear jumping effort and it gets cleared 100 times, your donation will be $100, if you pledge $5 per clear effort and it is cleared 80 times, your donation will be $400, if you pledge $0.25 per clear effort and it is cleared 75 times, your donation will be $18.75. There is a pledge amount for every budget!
For pledges in advance of the show, please contact Mary- 509.731.1657 or [email protected] and she can set you up. We will also have sign-up sheet at the ingate of the Jumper ring during the show.

An Ode to Taffy

In fields where the green grasses sway
Lived a pony, who brightened each day.
For twenty six years long,
With a heart pure and strong,
In memories, dear Taffy, you'll stay.

We are so grateful and lucky to have had Taffy for seventeen of his twenty six years of life. He was the best assistant trainer we’ve ever had! Taffy taught innumerable life lessons. He taught patience, determination, softness, and how to use your leg. Taffy was also a perfect babysitter to our resident baby pony, Cake Pop. He managed to teach her all the pony tricks & hope that his kind nature wore off on her. We cannot say enough thank yous to this amazing, fantastic, wonderful guy, and know that he’s reunited with his best buddy, Hudson ❤️

A big thank you to the Evergreen Equine Veterinary for keeping Taffy in the best shape, Dr. Misec for coming out on the holiday, and Dr Marchant of Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital for the wonderful care at the end.

Please comment a memory of Taffy if you knew him, he truly was an angel 😇

🐋 Riley Ha & Lady Henslee WIN the Green Rider Classic with scores of 83 & 79, and take Reserve Champion in both Green Rider Hunter & Equitation!
🐋 Banu Riolo & Beau Zephyr take the jumper ring by storm, earning 6th out of 22 and 8th in the .75s!
🐋Faith Frisk & Halana De Bremoy make strides in the Short Stirrup Horse and take some top 🥉placings!
🐋 Elisa Perez-Tenessa and Jigsaw earned the Reserve High Point in the 2’ Jr/Am Equitation and Champion in the 2’ Jr/Am Hunters! 🎉
🐋 .eq and Jannu DH Z were 4th in the Young Horse Class and fastest four faulter in the $2,500 1.20 Classic on Sunday. Beau Zephyr took the reserve Championship in the Large Hunters with Sammoe, earning 🥇🥇 over fences. Sammie & Old Times LS had a stellar round in the 3’6 Canadian Derby, and Sambuca Q earned 🥈in the Green 3’! Halana De Bremoy earned top ribbons in the Green 3’ as well 🦄

🦄 & Halana De Bremoy improve every day together and take some top🥉ribbons in a competitive Short Stirrup Horse classes! Lana & .eq also debut in the Green 3’ with some top 🥈ribbons, and placed 5th in the Moonrise Kingdom Undersaddle Challenge! So pleased with this up and coming pair, keep up the good work Faith 🤩

Huge congratulations to our riders on a very successful first time at Salish Show Jumping! 🥇🐰✨

🐰✨ Lucia and Beau finished with a hard earned 3rd place in the .90-1.0 Accumulator, even clearing the 1.05 joker fence! Super proud of how this team is growing and learning 🦄💖
🐰✨ Jamie and Teddy moved up to the .90s, finishing 2nd and 2nd in the .90 Open on Sunday! Great work!
🐰✨ Michael & Honey had great ribbons in the .60s all week, and learned a lot on classic day! Can’t wait to see how this duo conquers jumper land 🎉
