60 years- Helping People. Changing Lives.❤️

On August 20, 1964, President Lyndon B Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act into law.

The Economic Opportunity Act (EOA) of 1964 was a key part of President Lyndon B. Johnson's "Great Society" legislative agenda and the "War on Poverty"– and served as a starting point for . The act's goals were to provide opportunities, not handouts, and to help people lift themselves out of poverty.

"We must open the doors of opportunity. But we must also equip our people to walk through those doors." – LBJ

Thank you to the Mariposa County Board of Supervisors for presenting CMCAA with a Proclamation this morning acknowledging Community Action Month.❤️

Today, the Board proclaimed the Month of May as "Community Action Awareness Month". Which celebrates the Community Action Network. For over 60 years and with 1100 organizations nationwide wide, this network has dedicate time and resources to fight the "War on Poverty" as per the Economic Opportunities Act of 1964 which President Lyndon B. Johnson signed into law.

They also recognized the Calaveras-Mariposa Community Action Agency (CMCAA) who are within that critical network and have served multiple counties and communities for 33 years brining food and other goods and services for those who truly need it.

We thank the CMCAA for all they do for our County.
