Hiya, everyone!
Kitten season is again upon us. Please remember, if you find kittens that are in an otherwise safe location and Momma cat isn't around - LEAVE THEM BE for about 6 hours to see if Momma comes back before rounding them up.
Momma cats leave the nest for all sorts of reasons, and they won't thank you for stealing their babies while they were out performing Momma cat business.
If the babies are, say, in the middle of the highway, of course take immediate action if it's safe for you to do so. Momma cats are usually pretty savvy about leaving babies unattended in safe spots, so if they're in a super dangerous spot, something bad has probably happened to Momma cat.
For more information about how to handle unattended kittens, please feel free to give us a call at (209) 754 5123.
Calaveras Veterinary Clinic is closed until Tuesday. The brave women are tired. See you soon! Happy Labor Day!
Our 1958 era building has a 12 x 15 foot lobby. This small space cannot accommodate 5-10 cats and dogs checking in and out of the clinic at any given time. Many clients bring 2-3 80+ pound dogs for an appointment and or 2 large cat carriers. We cannot safely contain multiple large dogs and cats in 180 square feet. You will be asked to wait outside for the safety of everyone's animals. Thank you.
KITTENS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. 💕
Rabies and Parvo reared their ugly heads at Calaveras Veterinary Clinic yesterday. Confirmed human Rabies exposure in Valley Springs 1 week ago. Active Parvo infection in a 8 week old puppy from Rail Road Flat area. If your animals are unvaccinated for these diseases please get it done now. Booster if it has been more than 3 years. Puppy shots need boosters in 1 year. Displaced wildlife are on the move. Take care!!!

Valentine and Ozzy being catty after hours.
These guys are still here, and still in need of homes. Right now, they're working hard on dismantling our lobby chair.
We've got the little grey tortie, who the staff are starting to call 'Buttercup', so if you want her, you better get in here quick; when the staff start giving them names, they tend to go home with the staff.
There's the mostly white one with a grey heart on his side, too. He's super extra brave and wants to be friends with just *everybody*.
We also still have the mostly grey one, who was called 'Jackie Blue' by the person who rounded these fellows up. She's very sweet, and while they've all tamed down considerably, she came in ready for love, and has remained that way.
Fortunately, one of these guys, the one with the little brown patch on her head, is on her way to her new home this weekend, and we hope the rest of them get new homes soon, too. They're so much fun, they've had lots of experience now with other animals, they're box trained, they've had all the shots for which they are currently eligible, and they're still just bitey enough to be lots and lots of fun..
Come on down and play with them, if you like - they run, they jump, they chase, they make silly faces, and we're sure they'll grow on you. Also, we *really* don't want to have to replace our lobby chair. :)
Just give us a call first and let us know you want to make an appointment to come get to know the babies, and we'll set you up.
This morning when we came in, our four residents had some complaints about the facilities, and were threatening to leave a perfectly *scathing* Yelp review.
But THEN... we brought out The Can.
Meow, meow-meow meow meow....
Meow, meow-meow meoooooow....
