Wells Family Farm

Wells Family Farm Est. in 1997; equestrian lessons, workshops, community events, farm produce, volunteer opportunities. Welcome to the Wells Family Farm!

If you’re looking for a place filled with family tradition, fun, and innovation, this is the place for you. At our farm you will find everything from farm fresh eggs and produce, to equestrian training and services, an equestrian centered Life Coaching program, as well as farm, land, and ranch sales, along with automation designs to help your farm be more self-reliant and energy efficient. We also

host workshops and community events throughout the year including our ever so popular Fall Festival. So be sure to like and follow our page to stay up to date on our happenings. OUR STORY
In 1997, Wells Family Farm was established when two people fell in love, and got married. That began what is nearing 3 decades of adventures together. I (Desiree), had my passion for Dressage and 3-day Eventing, while Sidney brought his talents for designing and building projects, working farm equipment, and his education with programming industrial systems and processes. I didn’t know what industrial systems and process were, but I thought I hit the jackpot, and I did. Sidney was the man of my dreams. And if you ask him, I was the girl of his. Within a couple years our family began to grow with the birth of our daughter, and with it came an unexpected turn of events as Sidney joined the military where he could serve our country, and further his experience with electronic engineering and project managing. This venture has lasted for over 2 decades taking our farm, and family, all across the USA, providing me and our children with the opportunity to meet some wonderful people as we learn about different cultures and adaptability. Through these travels I’ve also had the fortuity to train with some incredible Olympic and International riders to further my own education that I share with clients. All this while Sidney traveled to work in over 20 different countries on four continents, serving our country to maintain the freedoms we enjoy each day. Now, as Sidney closes out his time with the military, keeping our vision in sight that began in 1997, he has transitioned into a career with real estate sales and development. He now helps others to have the same wonderful experiences with farm life as we do, by representing both buyers and sellers in farm, land, and ranch sales, along with creating self-reliant and automated designs that assist in saving time, and energy that come with every aspect of running a farm. Like I said, he’s talented. Meanwhile, life experiences have led me to become a Certified Life Coach where I continue to work with both horse and riders in furthering their equestrian education, along with helping those who desire to enrich their personal lives both through working with an equine centered coaching program, or through a virtual coaching program. Life on the farm has certainly taken several different turns that neither Sidney, nor I, could have imagined when we said “yes” to each other all those years ago. It’s a journey that we didn’t expect. And it’s one that has helped our family grow in ways we could not have otherwise. Now our children are all grown, we continue to work together as each of us bring our own unique talents and abilities that contribute to every aspect of our farm. From our daughter, Tapainga, offering her guidance as a nutrition coach, diesel mechanic, and children’s riding instructor....to our son, Chaise, bringing his own auto mechanics talent along with his architectural design, and business management education. Where we once began in Utah, we are now located in San Angelo, Texas with Sidney completing his military career at Goodfellow AFB, trading in his combat boots, for cowboy boots. Now he spends his time working on our farm, and assisting both buyers and sellers in the San Angelo (and surrounding areas) to have a positive experience with their home sale or purchase. We are truly a farm that’s built on family values, quality service, and community connection, and we’d like to invite you to come and join our fun and friendly environment where we welcome visitors, volunteers, and clients to take a break from their busy lives to relax and enjoy all that our farm life offers. For information on events we host you can sign up for our email list at the link provided, and be sure to like our page and follow us to stay informed and up to date. EMAIL LIST

Our Fall Festival turned out wonderful this year with many new additions to our spook alley, updates to our carnival games, and new treats to try along with the usual goodies. We'd like to thank our wonderful volunteers- Maxx Thomas, Paul Ivory, and Lynn Ivory - and all who attended and we hope to see you again next year!

MISSING: As we did our clean up from this past weekend's festival, we were missing a couple of our CornToss game pieces. If you happen to find your little one tucked a piece away and it made it to your home, we'd greatly appreciate it making its way back to us.

* All of our game pieces are handmade and they take a lot of time and effort to create. Because our event is a free family sponsored event, we don't always get enough volunteers to oversee our carnival games to assure pieces don't wander off. Thank you for checking your home for the corn pieces.

This year we've built permanent parking around two sides of our pasture for our events and workshops. For those attending our Annual Fall Festival this Saturday from 6 - 9:30 pm, please be sure to park only in these designated areas. For ease and flow of traffic, we also ask that you park perpendicular to the pasture fence. Thank you so much! We'll see you there! 🎃

This year we have some yummy treats to offer at our upcoming Fall Festival. Between muffins made straight from the garden (pumpkin, cornbread, & prickly pear), delicious caramel apples, a variety of caffine-free sodas, and mounds of candy, we hope you and your family have a delectable time. And remember, there is no charge to enjoy any of the activities at our festival.....including the snacks.

We'll see you this Saturday from 6-9:30 p.m.!

It's pumpkin harvesting time for the Pumpkin Decorating tent at our Festival taking place next Saturday, October 26th, from 6-9:30 pm.

These cuties have been a fun process to grow this year. We planted mini white, mini orange, and apple gourds. However, as nature pollinates, we find a mixture of pumpkins in our crop. This year we discovered a yellowish pumpkin that we can only assume are a cross between our mini white and mini orange.

We also noticed as our pumpkins grew on a trellis, the mini white turned into elongated white.

These ought to be a lot of fun for kids to decorate and we can't wait to see what creative ideas they come up with.

This week we're getting the farm ready for our festival with parking set up, spider maze post pounding, mowing, and tree trimming. Sparky is always a big help as he supervises. And to my (Desiree) surprise, I discovered a cute little bird nest in one of the trees. It might be a fun "seek and find" item for our spook alley. * Hint: it's in the ghost/grave yard area.

Our darling Texas is all dressed up and ready to give pony rides at our upcoming Fall Festival on Saturday, October26th, from 6 - 9:30 pm. This year Texas models "Jessie" from Toy Story. We think her costume turned out pretty cute and will be a fun part of photos for this year's event.

Another new addition for this year's Fall Festival taking place on Saturday, October 26th from 6 - 9:30 pm. Per our Frankenstein / Mummy Bowl carnival tent last year, we thought it would be a good idea to add a solid backdrop to catch the bean bags being thrown. Now I (Desiree) am not a professional artist by any means, but I do have fun creating designs like these for all to enjoy at our farm events. So be sure to join us and check out our Frankenstein / Mummy Bowl carnival tent this year!

This year we're venturing into different ways we can use our abundance of prickly pear. In our search we found this delicious recipe from New Mexico State University. These cookies are more like a cake batter cookie, with the added Maraschino Cherries it balances out the tartness of the prickly pear. So enjoy the share and have a wonderful prickly pear season!

Pumpkin time is here as we grow pumpkins for the Pumpkin Decorating Tent at our upcoming Fall Festival this year. As we've experimented with various ways to grow pumpkins over the past 5 years, this arched trellis has been the easiest by far for pest care watering and harvesting. I think we finally found a winner!!!

What most of you probably don’t know is that I (Desiree) contracted shingles in my left eye/left side of my face & scalp nearly 2 years ago, which has left me battling to regain the use of my eye. As part of this experience I continue to struggle with the severe and debilitating post herpectic neurolgia and damage to my eye which doctors tell me could take up to 3 years or more to recover from.

For this reason our farm workshops, equestrian training, and regular events have been put on hold as my health is not as reliable as I would like it to be. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our lovely clients and community here in San Angelo as we know many of you were looking forward to attending activities at our farm this year.

Despite my physical challenges, we are still committed to our Annual Fall Festival and appreciate volunteers who are willing to step in a assist with this event. The Fall Festival is scheduled for Saturday, October 26th from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

To volunteer you can sign up at the link below and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We thank you for your patience and prayers through this difficult time and appreciate your willingness to support and help at our farm.

Each year provides new opportunity for the ponies to learn something new. This year these sweeties have been working on learning their own unique version of bowing.

DASH took right to the complete lie down, as he loves a good dirt bath.

TEXAS quickly adapted to a prayer pose, which suits her older, wiser self as she is the senior of our horses.

IMYRA continued to be our lovely, elegant mystical performer as she so graciously took to bowing as if she were at the court of a queen.

We are so proud of these guys and look forward to them giving rides at our upcoming Fall Festival.

Grief and Loss is never easy. It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the untimely passing of our dear sweet Possom. Possom joined our family 4 years ago when she showed up as a stray kitten with her brother Picasso. She was full of fear and took a very long time to learn to trust. Even then, she remained cautious as she took on the responsibility of watching over our farm. She had the silkiest fur, loved to climb trees and catch birds, and always enjoyed her morning sunbathing as she basked in the early morning rays. Sweetheart, we miss you dearly. You will always hold a special place in our hearts.

07/04/2024

24 years ago Sidney joined the military, which has taken us on a lifetime adventure we hadn’t expected as Sid spent nearly 9 years away from our little family on tours, deployments, and assignments overseas to both friendly and hostile environments. Through it all Sid has shown the great pride he has for our country and what he is willing to do to protect the freedoms so many take for granted in his service to keep us, as well as other countries, safe.

As Sid’s journey has now come to a close with his retirement this May, I (Desiree) am proud of the amazing soldier he has been to the USA, and the wonderful dedicated father and husband he is to our family.

It hasn’t always been an easy venture for our family as we have spent many days, months, and years worrying about Sid’s safety.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for our children growing up relocating every few months and years, having to readjust, make new friends, continually finding the “new norm”.

And it certainly hasn’t been easy maintaining the integrity of our roots by having a farm and moving it with every new assignment.

But we knew serving our country comes with a sacrifice, not just for the soldier, but for their families as well.

Celebrating Independence Day isn’t something our family takes lightly. It’s a day where we are reminded of why Sid gives so much as he puts on his boots and walks out the door, many times into the unknown of what the day will bring.

As we reflect on the past 24 years we ask the question, “Given the chance, would we do it all over again?”. The answer to that is a definitive, “Yes!”.

We could have stayed in the comfort zone of Utah where we were raised and surrounded by family and friends. However, by doing so we would have missed the great opportunity to learn more about other cultures, to learn about adaptability, to learn about independence, and to learn about truly having faith in and trusting God’s plan for each of us.

We love everyone we’ve met on our many military moves and we look forward to meeting even more new people as one door has come to a close and others doors begin to open.

As we begin our own festivities on this special day, we would like to wish everyone a wonderful 4th of July celebration as freedom rings through fireworks with the great red, white, and blue soaring high.

This past week we had the opportunity to welcome our nephew from Austin, TX to stay with us and have a taste of the farm life. From riding horses, to land clearing, to cooking dinner at the campsite, and even dancing by the fire, it was an experience he said he'll always remember...and perhaps return to do it again when he's ready to work that hard again...lol.
