Everyone meet Peanut! She is a nonreleasable squirrel that is 3 years old who has now been placed in our care by another rehabber. Yall may know him and his wife Jerry Dalton and Mary Bollig Dalton, they have taken care of peanut who is half blind for a long time and with Mary being sick she has moved to our care so they may focus on getting better! If everyone could please send the prayers and good thoughts the them it would be greatly appreciated ❤️❤️❤️

We have a lot of wonderful people asking many questions about how one becomes a wildlife rehabber. Before you decide to join try and join this lifestyle please read this!

What does it take to be a rehabber?
Being a rehabber may sound fun and amazing, getting to see an animal open their eyes for the first time, being their for their first steps, when they finally heal, and watching them grow and being proud of them.

However no one talks about the babies that don't make it to their eyes opening, the babies who are so injured they never get those steps in, the 6am morning feedings along with their other 3-4 feedings throughout the day, the babies we get that people illegally kept as pets and ruined their health and chances in the wild, when they get older and you have to start separating from them so they can BE wild, and the injuries we get ourselves having these animals.
Rehabbing isn't easy. It is heart wrenching but fulfilling at the same time.

It is also very EXPENSIVE!!! Majority of rehabbers do not get government funding and rely on donations. Often times you are getting sudden $200 vet bills, along with their food being expensive, and they have certain government cage requirements. We ourselves spend about 3k a month to keep out facilities running for the animals.

The most important is the education! We rehabbers are constantly going to classes, getting new certificates, and expanding our education. These also cost a lot of money!

In no way am I sharing this to scare people away. The wildlife rehabber community is the most welcoming and supportive community i have ever had the greatest experience of joining in my life. We are always looking for new people willing to do things correctly and be mentored. Your local wildlife rehabbers need you and much as you need us ❤️

Another late night intake. These poor babies were attacked by a cat and are in critical condition! We have stabilized them for now and will have to see how they do through the night. We named them FuFu and LuLu. Unfortunately FuFu got the brunt of it. She has a major laceration and a badly broken back leg. Right now we focus on the external wounds but in the future she will need a splint and possible surgery.
Update for everyone.
The baby bun did not make it through the night 😔 but they were not in pain and they were warm and loved.

Everyone meet ginger! He came to us today after falling from his nest from the wind. Sadly he's very skinny and got a bloody nose a few hours after intake. Likely internal injuries. Please send best wishes for ginger 🙏🏼

Hi everyone! I hope yall are all safe after the storm last night. Please be on the look out for any injured or misplaced baby wildlife. The strong wind and rain can cause a huge disruption to nature. If you find a baby wildlife please call or text 541-514-1773 and do not offer any food or water. You can carefully place them in a box and place the box on a heat mat. Thank you everyone! Yall are our first line of defense!
