We currently have seven grown labs. 6 of them are AKC purebreds and one is a rescue that we saved while living in Hawaii. We currently have two dams we breed with. (1 yellow and 1 white). Both of them are of Texas bloodlines. We have three sires we breed with, all of Texas bloodline. One yellow, one chocolate and one black. Through out the year we will normally have two litters available for adoption, we prefer to plan litters for Spring and Summer time frames. When adopting one of our AKC Labrador pups you will receive:
Our pups are well socialized daily, interacting with adults, toddler children, adult dogs and some exposure to livestock animals. We raise them in our home, in a whelping bed in the living room. We have an outdoor kennel for acclimating to being outdoors starting with short durations and increasing to full mornings and afternoons, weather dependent. During the summer months, we limit outdoor time due to heat but also introduce them to water by providing a small pool to play in and keep cool. We establish daily routines with them as part of their training. Usually by the time they go home with you, they are sleeping thru the night and adapted to a regular feeding schedule of dry puppy food. Yes, they sometimes get spoiled, they are the cuties puppies after all! We also make note of personalities as they begin to emerge to help with matching them to their forever home.
We are not a puppy mill!! We do not have rows of kennels with Labradors and practice good breeding practices which means we do not breed a female every time she goes into heat. Our Dams average two heat cycles per year and our goal is to skip one cycle before breeding again. However, dogs will be dogs and occasionally, despite our preventative measures, breeding happens when not scheduled. The Labrador Retriever is one of many breeds of the retriever hunting type. Extremely loyal and intelligent, Labradors are one the most popular pet breeds in numerous countries, including the United States. While they still serve the purpose for which they were initially bred, which is retrieving small downed waterfowl, they are also adept at a number of other jobs including leading the blind, acting as hearing dogs, and police and military work. Their kind nature, obedience, and knack for getting along with children also gives them the reputation of being the ideal pet.
