Did you know that there are nearly 70 million stray animals in the United States alone? It's no wonder why animals shelters are always having a hard time.

There are many ways to help reduce the amount of stray pets, some as simple as updating microchip information, placing a collar with updated tags, or licensing your pet with your county.

Today we celebrate cats, understand their needs, and give them extra love.

Cats have a lot of natural instincts that often go ignored when they are introduced to a strictly indoor environment. Cats are designed to hunt, scratch, and climb so it shouldn't be a surprise when they start clawing the couch or hanging out on top of the fridge. Make sure to give them lots of stimulation and affection and pay attention to their body language. Each cat has individual needs and likes.

This is Ruby! She is a 4-year-old Norwegian Forest Cat mix owned by one of our RVTs, Erin. She was adopted when she was about 4 months old from a rescue organization here in Marin.

She loves chasing birds, yelling for treats, and giving kisses to her human brother.

Ruby enjoys being an only cat and gives her family endless entertainment.

Welcome to another !

This feline goes by many names, but her mom calls her Kiki! Kiki is a 2-year-old Siamese owned by our Owner and Practice Manager, Heather.

She was adopted from Marin Humane when she was about 4 months old and has easily won her family's hearts.

She may look grumpy, but she is such a sweet girl and loves to take off with her mom's lunch when she's not looking. Kiki is so entertaining and affectionate and likes causing trouble.
