Last summer Achilles was attacked by an off leash dog and was unreliable out in public. 16 months later, he is back to being the dog he was before the attack but during that time he was pulled from all public work and spent the summer at the house. With him being a working dog, he needed to do something to work his brain, but wouldnât trigger him.
thatâs when we found both him and I excelled in trick dog training and within a month had up to the advanced title. So much of his foundation work made it easy to get the novice and intermediate titles and the advanced had us working together together each afternoon, learning and putting together new skills.
his full routines are posted to his page @achilles_of_the_gods if you want to check them out. Trick dog training is a really great way to keep learning new skills with your dog that are fun and easy for the both of yâall.

Advanced obedience is all fun and games until you get the wrong Simon Says command đ at the end of this training sessions the humans were having more fun to see how fast the âfastâ walk could be, to who could be the slowest âslowâ walk. The dogs were troopers!

Two weeks shy of having this gorgeous girl in our house and sheâs come along beautifully. When the training clicks and theyâre in tandem with their people, itâs so sweet.
⨠Attention! â¨
I (Katiebeth) have been working on updating graphics behind the scenes for our instagram and website and this is the week it all comes together. With any redesign there is careful consideration on theme, branding, and vibes, and creating a cohesive image across the board has been a delightful challenge. At the end of the week the final details will fall in place and I hope you love it as much as I do. Enjoy this weekâs posting and if you feel so inclined, please interact (like or heart) with each day so the algorithm doesnât shadow ban me for posting too frequently and flags this as Spam. I promise it will go back to the regularly scheduled twice a week posting after this!

Our most recent pack walk was a barking success (straight from the canines mouth). Thank you to everyone who made it an event to remember and weâll be seeing you soon for the next one!

We got to occasionally brag on our own dogs, as they do some pretty incredible things. Achilles is running next to a mule cart and holding a 13mph run for over a mile. This was done after having taught him the skill of running along side a bike and solid communication with Jess. He had a blast and the reward of watching our dog accomplish great things makes all the difference.
Nala at the end of her training showing off her down/stay during a busy afternoon at the shops at La Cantera! Even with people and dog distractions, Nala kept her cool and recalled beautifully when asked.
Nala went through our basic obedience and a few extra sessions for resource guarding, but through training is now is able to accomplish outings like this!
What a year 2023 was! So full of change, learning, and wonderful trainings. This is a highlight of some of the special moments we captured on camera with dogs weâve had the privilege of working with.

Puppy basics! Bo Peep is just starting out in her training journey and while she has big things in store, it all starts with luring around cones. In the simple exercise, she learns to: follow her humanâs movements, move around obstacles, and build a vital relationship that will last a lifetime.
For our higher drive dogs, we played Advanced Fetch. Throwing the ball tires them out physically, but when the ball is hidden in tall grass, it makes them slow down and use their nose to smell out the ball. This âhuntâ took them just over a full minute to find, and with the reward being the ball at the end, itâs a pack favorite. A tired dog (physically and mentally) is a happy and content dog! Give it a try with your dog this week, and see the difference at the end of the play session!
Running back from our trip to the woods!
We are alive and well, just reflecting on this past year and taking some time to go about our day to day lives, dogs and all.
Everyone give this post a like or heart, because John and Jennifer deserve all the acknowledgment for their dedication to their dogs Luna and Artemis. Their dogs are their family members and Iâm in awe of how far theyâve gone in training and building a happy and healthy pack (humans included).
