Waylon (Yorkie), Faith (white maltipoo), and puppy Dolly (mixed breed), all got groomed and look superb after their haircuts.

This was Dolly’s very first groom and she did super well since she had her older brother and sister as role models, and they are excellent to groom.

Faith and Dolly are wearing a #7 all over with a rounded teddy bear head, and Waylon is wearing a #7 with a short yorkie head.

Let’s talk about double coated dog grooming needs!

May owners mistakenly think that unless they have a dog that continuously grows coat, like a poodle or shin tzu, their dog only needs the occasional bath. However, dogs with double coats - like German Shepherds, Huskies, Golden Retrievers, Chow Chows etc- need to have their dead under coat removed by regular brushing and/or professional grooming. When this isn’t done, the dead undercoat builds up (called impacted coat) and can cause mats and tangles that trap moisture and debris against the skin, and affect the dogs ability to regulate their temperature.

Here is a video of impacted coat on one of our recent clients. Some of the dead coat has already come out or loose pin the bath, but you can see the lighter colored tufts in the coat that need to be blown or brushed out.

Scotty was in need of a big deshedding session to get his coat back to looking sleek and healthy.

He was bathed in a deshedding shampoo and conditioner, scrubbed with a rubber curly comb, and rinsed with a special water jet designed to lossen and remove dead and impacted undercoat. Then a high velocity dryer was used to dry him and blow out more undercoat, and he was finished with big brush out to remove any remaining dead hair.

If your pup is shedding a lot, consider booking a deshedding appointment - you will be impressed with the results and your pup will feel a lot better! Available for both short and long haired dogs.

Faith was a super star for her groom, and left looking like a young pup (even though she is 14!). Frequent grooming, even as little as a bath and brush out, really helps your pups stay looking their best and keeps their skin and coat on tip top shape.

Rocco braved the ice storm today to come get tidied up and looked so handsome after!

He’s not the biggest fan of grooming, but he sure tried his best today and l try to get his groom done with the least amount of fussing so he is in and out in no time.

I am working on sending out reminders for all of the clients with January appointments, but wanted to post it here as well.

As of January 1st, 2023 base prices for both full and mini grooms will increase as follows:

Full grooms:
Dogs under 30 lbs - $20
Dogs over 30lbs - $30

Mini grooms:
Dogs under 30lbs -$10
Dogs over 30lbs - $20

Bath dogs, add-on services, and fees for behavior/matting/complex cuts will stay at their current price. New grooming base prices are now listed under services.

Clients will also be asked to book their next appointment at the end of their scheduled service. All groom dogs must be kept on a 4-8 week schedule depending on coat type, length, and at home maintenance.

Handsome boy Atlas came in to get tidied up, but his humans were not quite sure what to do with his scraggly coat. Thankfully, he had the perfect coat texture for hand stripping - a process that is mainly used on show dogs to gently remove the dead,brittle longer hairs and leave the shorter, newer hairs underneath while also freeing up the follicles to grow more healthy coat. It made a huge difference to his coats look and feel and his humans loved it!

Dashing Dakota got all spruced up just in time for Christmas! She is wearing a #2 guard on the body with a 3/4 inch guard on the legs, and clean face/feet.

Elegant Eris came in to get his first show groom!

Eris’ owner plans to show him in UKC shows. He had chewed the hair on his legs so his trim had to be a bit shorter to make everything blend nicely, but his owner can not work on growing out his coat and maintaining the shape.

A couple of quick announcements-

*We have very limited appointments available before Christmas. If you are hoping to get your pup in before the Holiday please reach out ASAP to see if we have availability.

* Beginning January 1st, 2023 all grooming and bath service prices will be increasing by $10-$20. A la carte services and add on services (ex. nail filing) will remain the same. If you would like to know your new total before your appointment please let us know so we can give you a quote.

*Please ensure your flea prevention & vaccination records are up-to-date and that we have a copy of the most recent records. I will be checking vaccination/flea prevention records and sending out reminders to update where I can, but cannot guarantee I will be able to send out reminders before scheduled appointments. Dogs without up-to-date infromation will not be able to have services preformed. Galia Grooming Company is a flea free salon.

Pretty Shayla came in and got all cleaned up and is now ready to go to a family wedding with her humans.

Cute little Toby the Havanese puppy was another recent groom, and he did wonderful for his first ever groom! He started to fall asleep towards the end of the groom, and took a little nap on the table while he waiting for his owner to arrive.

Sweet miss Honey is so well behaved for grooming. It probably is because she is only 4 1/2 months old and has been groomed 3 times by me already!

Her momma took advantage of our puppy package - 4 introductory grooms for $200!

First groom: bath, blow dry, nails, paw pad shave
Second groom: all above plus ear cleaning, vibration desensitization (no actual clipper work), light head & feet sc******ng.
Third groom: all above plus scissored outline trim/ tidy all over body
Fourth groom: all above plus clipper work on body if ready

(Puppies must be under 5 months old and each groom must be scheduled within 3 weeks of eachother).

I will have *very limited* availability for THURS/FRI, and only 1 more SATURDAY appointment is available for all of October, November and into December as I will be traveling extensively to show my puppy.

Tate the great came in sporting his signature purple tail! With Texas summer temperatures hitting 100 everyday the last couple weeks his mom opted for a shorted style on his body to keep him cool.

Remy is Oliver’s brother and is another senior pup!

He definitely felt better after his groom and appreciated being able to sit or lay down as he needed.

Oliver is a senior boy and felt so much better after his groom.

Senior pets recieve a “comfort groom” which just means that I get as much done as possible during their groom, but I don’t fuss about things being perfect and rather focus on making sure the pup is comfortable rather than asking them to stand for the whole groom or having to lift arthritic legs for prolonged times.

This can mean a few stray hair get missed, but Oliver looks cute no matter what!

Hello everyone!

🐾 A few Announcements 🐾 :

I will be re-opening the salon next week starting on Tuesday 7/5.
If necessary, priority will be given to established clients and those who had appointments scheduled prior to the temporary closing. However, I am still accepting new clients.

Going forward, appointments will only be scheduled via call or text on the business number - (512) 522-5762 or via MoeGo. Appointment requests will not be taken via facebook. Please be sure to have your pup's updated vaccination & flea prevention records either on record with us or sent to us prior to your appointment request.

Last but not least, a very heartfelt thank you to all who have shared kind words and condolences on my mother's passing. It was very difficult for me to close the salon temporarily, but I am so glad I was able to spend the time with her and the rest of my family.

To my wonderful clients-

With very heavy heart I must announce that I will be temporarily closing the salon. No new appointments will be booked and all scheduled appointments will be canceled.

My mother, who has been battling pancreatic cancer, is being placed on hospice care and I need to go be with her. 💜

I am referring all my clients to Linwood Grooming for now and i am happy to provide grooming notes if needed.

I do anticipate reopening when I am ready, but do not know when that will be.

My personal dog, Calcifer (5 1/2 months old), is looking very handsome and grown up after his show groom.
