What do your walks with your dog look like? Are they relaxing and enjoyable for both you and your canine companion? Or do they look like your dog dragging your everywhere, just about yanking your arm out and reacting to anyone or anything that moves?
Walks shouldn’t be stressful!! They should be relaxing and a good opportunity for you and your pup to enjoy each other’s company. Nice, calm leash walking takes some work on our end, but man is it rewarding! There’s nothing better than being able to calmly and confidently enjoy an evening stroll with your furry companion, no matter what the environment is, in my opinion!
Surprise! A Canine’s Way Dog Training is excited to share with you guys our Stay and Play Program! So what does this look like?
For new clients, we pick your pup up in the morning for a day of training, field trips, and social with other pups! Then at the end of the day, your pup comes home. This is a great option for those of you that want a more immersive experience for your pup, but struggle with the time apart that a board and train can entail!
For our existing clients, think of this as an elevated daycare experience for your pups. This is the perfect opportunity for your pups to get continued training during the work day. They’ll continue to further their obedience and social skills, while also getting exposure to new environments!
We’ve been working on this for a while, and we’re excited to finally share this with you guys!❤️
Some door reactivity practice with Bella at her third in home lesson! The first time we met Bella is was like having a canon ball with legs meet you at the front door. She’s a very sweet, VERY excitable little pup that used to struggle immensely with impulse control. Teaching your dog to hold a place command when you’re expecting visitors is a great way to address over excited greetings at your entryway! Bella’s owners have been putting in the work with her, and it definitely shows💪🏼
Kaze’s last run of the night the other night, he was winded and tired but oh man am I proud of this dog.
I inadvertently built a lot of tension & conflict between us when he was younger. Outing this dog was a NIGHTMARE, I listened to other’s advice & that landed us in a bad place. Kaze is my first serious working/sport dog & this has been a major learning curve for me. Thankfully he’s an amazing dog- smart, eager to please, and strong as hell (mentally & physically😂).
Im thankful for all the people that helped us get here, and I’m thankful to have such a great decoy to trust with my dog!🙌🏻
This was his first session outing off a decoy, no conflict needed, just his ball😍

Guess what? Little dogs want to work too! Mind blowing, I know🤯
It is such a huge trend for people to treat little dogs like they’re babies or stuffed animals. However, at the end of the day, a dog is still a dog. They need to be treated and honored as such.
We owe it to our little dogs to train them, exercise them physically and mentally, and fulfill them.
It’s so easy to let little dogs get away with bad behaviors. A little dog and a larger dog exhibiting the same behavioral issues often times can live very different lives. It’s easy to pick up a little dog if they’re reactive, to allow leash pulling, or to not even care if they jump all over people. If a big dog were to do these things, it would be a TOTALLY different story!
Honor your dog and do right by them. I promise you will love much happier lives together if you remember that it doesn’t matter if a dog is 5 lbs like little Luna here or 105 lbs.

Scout’s First Session with the Wheelchair
This weekend has been rough for me. Running a business on your own as a disabled individual is no easy task. I have my bad days just like everyone else, but sometimes my bad days look a little different from a normal person’s bad days.
Scout’s girl is currently in a wheelchair, so it only makes sense that we work on this skill on a weekend that I need to utilize this aid.
I started pursuing dog training after I was in a car accident a few years back that left some long lasting damage. I’m thankful that I was able to build a business and find my passion all thanks to this accident. It allows me to help other that have their own struggles in life medically and connect with so many phenomenal individuals.
Overall, I’m proud with how Scout did! We have some cleaning up to do with this behavior, but for his first session he caught on quickly.

Faith in Handler through Environmental Agility.
Why are these things important? Easy, everything we do with our dogs is based on trust, respect, and our relationship. How can we expect so much out of our dogs but give nothing in return?
I’m a firm believer in the fact that we have to honor our dogs for what they are and meet them in their world. When I say meet them in their world, I’m referring to doing things that they enjoy and want to do. It’s easy to get caught up in what we want and expect of our dogs without thinking or what they want and expect out of us. Any healthy relationship is based off of the notion of giving and taking. One side of the relationship can’t be the only side to give while the other only takes. There has to be a healthy balance to build a healthy relationship.
By building that trust and relationship, we can begin to ask our dogs to go through challenges. Do you think climbing on an obstacle course like this is normal? Absolutely not. However, there are so many benefits to it! We continue to work on trust, confidence guiding, and proprioception.
Aslan and I accomplished something new and difficult together. There was trust in the fact that me asking him to do this means it’s safe and that we can get through it together. When he did get through it, you can see the genuine joy and celebration there is for both human and dog!
Thanks @iloveyourdogllc for having us out last week and letting us use your new equipment!
