Say hey to Frito!

This little guy surprisingly was found by his owner on I-35 scared and surrounded by the freeway traffic 😢
Luckily, his owner saved him and he quickly fit into his new home!
With a new baby and other pups in the house, his new family wanted him to have a head start in life and signed up for a 3 week board and train with me to work in his fear with little ones, bossiness with other dogs, barking, and potty accidents in the house.

So far he has been with me for two weeks and has shown more confidence around kids (my little helpers), learning that they aren’t all out there to get him and that he has other options than to react out of fear and has not had any recent accidents.

One more week and he will be set up to be reintroduced to his family with a bachelors in home manners 😉

Forrest came with me today to work on some Public access training to get more exposure. I feel that he is ready to take on more different/challenging places so we went to the store and a local feed store!

Things he did well on:
-ignoring people passing/acknowledging him
-holding a down command with shopping carts, people, and lots of distractions
-sitting when told (he did struggle a little to hold those and would slip into a down lol)
-walking past a lot of toys and treats!!
-no accidents!
-no whining/barking/fear to anything/anyone
-hardly any sniffing

Of course, since he is in training and learning, he did need a couple reminders to refocus or that he was holding a down, but besides that, I was very happy with his progress. Lots of rewards were given in the form of hot dogs 😂 I do not expect perfection and most shouldn't since these are living, breathing animals. Everything and everyone will have their days! But today was a great day!

In the feed store, I did allow him a few breaks since it was prompted by me so that he could pick out a toy and since he is still a younger guy who may need a little break here or there.

Overall: 8/10!

Disclosure: I train service dogs on a case by case basis! Forrest is a SDiT who is working on his obedience in the home and in public for now. Task training is in the beginning stages (hearing alert) and light mobility, but I do not expect this from him in public at this point in his training.

Two are here just for boarding while their families are out of town, while Miss Zena is here for a board and train. She is here to work on her impulse control, reactivity, and to brush up on her overall obedience.

Want to attend group classes with me?

Well I'm excited to finally announce that we will be starting our group classes NEXT MONTH!!!

If you are a current client, your first three classes are FREE!

After that, there is a small membership fee to continue coming to group classes if you enjoy them and find them beneficial for you and your dog.

Group classes/Pack Walks/Hang Out Days will be at various locations such as:

-Lowe's Home Improvement
-Tractor Supply
-Bonnie Connor Park
-Brackenridge Park
-McAllister Park
-Tom Slick Park
-The Pearl Brewery
-Outdoor Patio Restaurants (yes, we will hang out, too!)
