Frenchie Fry may have finally found his fur-ever home. He's been with us 10 months. He's been w/ Murphy who has been sad after his older brother passed. Murphy is also from Rescue Pets Serving Vets w/ a Veteran family. The two are said to be two peas in a pod - Frenchie's only issue is he # needs to stop barking at the cats🐈🐈‍⬛!!

🐶 PupDATE TIME: Larry ❤️ he’s thriving!❤️

So it’s been about three years since Larry fought off Distemper. It had its grip deeply rooted not wanting to let go; it went neuro followed by us having a really hard time controling the seizures. He repeatedly relapsed 3 - 4 times from Sept to Dec and each time, it looked like we were gonna lose him but this dog was/is tenacious and he clung on and fought back - he has a lot of support behind him - we had Anu Fields in our corner (her survival rate over 90%) counceling us, and w/ the help of the team to include Carrie Kurz, Ninfa Alvarado, and Dr Krista D. Wilkerson encouraging and supporting Amy and family, we narrowly won every time. His family was fierce and unrelenting battling back through love that he help steady - it was truly a miracle.

Larry wasn’t about to let Distemper take him out when he had a little girl seranading “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as he received his breathing treatments! The Bossler’s ended up moving to Hawaii and Larry having Distemper was not permitted to leave so their Veterinarian friend drove to Texas and took him home to TN. He’s in the best hands possible with his history. Larry is no longer a puppy - he’s now a spoiled boy who gets to lay on the couch, covered in blankets, as he snoozed. He’s having the best life

Distemper really tried to kill him; even now, when he gets really tired, he will have a seizures - thankfully his mom is a dog doctor ❤️ - she’s never met Distemper face to face till she adopted a Texas stray; now she’s an expert.

The entire time this ensued, we were assisting the puppy under a different rescue; in the end, we transferred him to us and he was adopted out under Rescue Pets Serving Vets - he was definitely our family from the get go so we made it official.

If you’re a rescue in San Antonio - 99.999% chance you have come face to face with the cruelest, ugliest dog virus known as Distemper - it’s attack is brutal and without help, there is much suffering. As they become ill, the dogs are aware something is happening that they can’t stop or cintrol and it tertifies them as they become helpless. Just being there for them, you can see the relief they have with a wag of the tail or how the desperate look in the eyes eyes - pleading “don’t leave”. Some get frustrated with the constant twitching and uncontrolled muscle spasms (myoclonus) - some are so bad that they eventually end up completely paralyzed and can no longer swallow. In the late stages, most have seizures. It will be a good day when Distemper is eradicated from the face of the earth.

The two in the middle were euthanasia room saves. Howy, second to left, was the only dog left in the room that fated day when pulled to safety. He continues in amazing health with his human parents and sibling k9s. Pharis, second from right, crossed rainbow bridge after coming down with Cushing Disease. Prior to Lauren & Mike finding him, he lived terrified in a shell; once is their care, he flourished, became outgoing and finally understood love. The brokenness can be healed; by the time Pharis crossed, he had reached the depths of connection that most ppl never know.

(Koda on the left is still with family and healthy; cocker on right was before RPSV was around)

Rescued from though beginnings but still so much love in him. I named him Amor because he really is all love.
Amor is calm indoor but loves to play outside with his friends. He would spend so much time watching squirrels and birds that sometimes l have to carry him inside the house. He gets alone with other dogs and loves children. If you are looking for affection and a sweet companion, Amor couldd be your perfect match.

From sad to glad! 🧸 Teddy Bear (ACS named Spice) made it to SD and is loving his life. Don't judge the dog at the shelter - this dog stayed on his run after arriving at ACS almost his entire stay till the trainer coaxed him out and then he was focused on escaping. Now he's with him mom and is relaxed and ready for his chapters to begin.

Live long and prosper Teddy-Spice; we will miss you 🤗

Fostering/adopting saves lives - Teddy is grateful to Layla Dahlia Collins for saving him

Sometimes, depending on the degree of brokenness, it can takes years for very shut down dogs to feel like a dog again. Jack, once named Taro when at ACS, was so terrified that he couldn’t move and just shook. He came to us and though coukd be approached with treats, he was so skittish. He eventually, very sheepishly, came gor light pets and treats. We worried he’s never be adopted or even fosyered but these dogs do have angels appearing like humans that do show up

So greatful to Penm who has fostered and adopted through us for spreading the word about our rescue shen she was out with her babies - it lead to this anazing story of resilence.

Jack is a very different dog today - happy, loved and he shows loves back - he has made a 180 coming out of his shell. It would be so amazing if more ppl were involved. Jack was a difficult case initially - he did not show affection for a very long time when his fosters had had a very affectionate dog prior; he made progress, though slow goes it, to the point where he just grew on their hearts with each milestone he surpassed - he was eventually adopted - who can let him go honestly when being the key to his healing. Jack does not look anything like the dog named Taro that we pulled from EBI years ago. He is incredible gorgeous, vibrant, healthy physically/mentally and he is so loved and he outwardly reciprocates now - we know dogs and he always loved him family but was scared to show it. He’s scared no more!

Thank you to GM for capturing the video that broke all our hearts so long ago when she found him at ACS awaiting doom - we need more ppl involved and taking videos to get these dogs seen.
