Chocolate is a Human-Only Treat!

Did you know chocolate can be incredibly dangerous for our pets? While it might be a delicious treat for us, it contains two harmful chemicals—caffeine and theobromine—that our furry friends simply can’t handle. These can cause everything from an upset stomach to heart issues, dehydration, and even more serious problems.

To keep your pets safe, always store chocolate out of their reach, especially during holidays like Christmas, Halloween, or Valentine’s Day, when sweets are everywhere. Instead, treat them to pet-safe snacks made just for them—they’ll feel just as loved, and you’ll have peace of mind.

👉 Remember: Prevention is key! Chocolate is a human-only treat, no exceptions.

🎾 Keep Your Pet’s Toys Clean and Safe! 🧸
Did you know your pet’s favorite toys could be hiding harmful bacteria, yeast, or mold? 😱 Regular cleaning keeps your furry friends happy, healthy, and ready for more playtime! Here’s how:

🐾 For Hard Toys:
Scrub them with hot, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and disinfect with a solution of ½ tablespoon bleach in 1 gallon of water. Let them air dry for a squeaky-clean finish!

🐾 For Soft Toys:
Toss them in your washing machine on the hottest cycle, then tumble dry on low. Easy peasy!

Your pet deserves toys that are as clean as they are fun. 🐕🐾 Make it a habit to wash their toys regularly—your pet (and your nose) will thank you!

Halloween is all about treats and tricks, but let’s make sure it’s a safe celebration for everyone – humans and pets alike! Here are some tips to keep your furry friends safe and your holiday full of fun:

👻 No Tricks with Treats! Keep the candy out of paw’s reach – chocolate and sweeteners like xylitol can be dangerous for pets.

🎃 Costumes with Care: Make sure your pet’s costume is comfortable and doesn’t restrict their movement, vision, or breathing. If they’re happier without it, a festive collar or bandana is a perfect alternative!

🕯️ Decor with Caution: Curious noses + candles or cords = possible accidents! Opt for battery-operated candles in your jack-o’-lanterns to keep things spooky and safe.

🍬 Stranger Danger: Some pets may be spooked by all the new faces in costumes. Consider setting up a cozy, quiet space for them to retreat to during trick-or-treat time. Making sure your pets microchip information is also up to date is very important in case our furry friends accidentally run out of the house.

Kidney (or renal) disease is very common in dogs and cats, and it may be reversible or permanent based on underlying causes. The disease could be a result of age-related changes to the kidneys, acute injury or toxin ingestion, congenital defects present from birth, or in rare cases, a side effect of some medications. To prevent kidney disease or slow its progression, it's vital to stay regular with wellness visits so that together, we can monitor renal levels with blood work and urinalysis and catch any changes ASAP.
